An auscultation device having a chest piece with a sound output aperture in fluid communication with a diaphragm on a bottom surface of the chest piece. A digital stethoscope component with a sound input aperture and a connector fluidly connecting the sound output aperture to the sound input aperture. The connector is designed such that the auscultation device is free standing on a horizontal surface.

The present disclosure relates to a hearing protector () with a sensor module () having a module sensor (). The sensor module () is removably attached to the cushion () and the cup (A,A) of the earmuff () of the hearing protector (). The hearing protector () according to present disclosure allows the arrangement of sensors at a hearing protector () in an easy and cost-efficient way even with multiple sensors. The advantage of such a hearing protector () is an easy, compact and reliable solution of a hearing protector () providing information about the environment and about the conditions of the user () or worker using such a hearing protector (). Also, a method of retrofitting such a sensor module () to a hearing protector () is provided. Such a method is advantageous because reversible retrofitting of existing hearing protectors () not having the required functionality of sensors is provided.

A ring-shaped cushion for a hearing protector or audio headset. The cushion has a circumferential contact pad for sealing on a wearer's head and an attachment for sealing with an earmuff. The cushion further has a sound insulation tube that inwardly defines an inner space. The sound insulation tube extends between the contact pad and the attachment. The cushion has a ventilation passage that extends entirely through the cushion between an inlet opening in the contact pad and an area outside of the inner space. The cushion may further include one or more physiological sensors to monitor the health of a wearer.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to an ergonomic chestpiece for a stethoscope. The chestpiece includes a bottom surface which is generally planar and adapted to be placed near the patient for receiving auscultatory sounds. The chestpiece includes a raised center portion defining first and second lateral indented gripping surfaces, the raised center portion having a top surface opposite the bottom surface. The chestpiece includes a stem portion extending distally from the raised center portion. The first lateral indented gripping surface is defined by a first wall comprising a first concave surface arcuate about a first axis and the second lateral indented gripping surface is defined by a second wall comprising a second concave surface arcuate about a second axis. The first axis and the second axis form a V-shape comprising an apex oriented in a direction of the stem portion.

At least some aspects of the present disclosure direct to systems and methods for monitoring a physiological condition with a plurality of sensors. The system includes a wireless adaptor device and a wireless sensor device. The wireless adaptor device is configured to transmit wireless identification of the wireless adaptor device to the wireless sensor device via a NFC communication. The wireless sensor device is configured establish a wireless communication with the wireless adaptor device using the wireless identification of the wireless adaptor device. The wireless sensor device is further configured to transmit sensor signals to the wireless adaptor device via the established wireless communication.

In general, techniques and systems for detecting acoustic signals and generating phonocardiograms are described. In one example, a system may include an acoustic sensor configured to detect an acoustic signal from a heart of a patient. The system may also include a sensing module configured to detect an electrical signal from the heart of the patient via two or more electrodes and at least one processor configured to generate a composite phonocardiogram based the acoustic signal and the electrical signal detected over a plurality of cardiac cycles of the heart, wherein the composite phonocardiogram is generated for a representative cardiac cycle. The system may be provided in a single device or multiple devices configured to transmit information between the devices.

Enhanced auscultatory sensor and analysis for patient diagnosis

An electronic stethoscope includes a housing configured for hand-held manipulation, a transducer supported by the housing and configured to sense auscultation signals at a first location, and a headset coupled to the housing and configured to deliver audio corresponding to the auscultation signals through earpieces on the headset. The electronic stethoscope further includes a processor disposed in the housing and configured to convert the auscultation signals to first digital signals representative of the auscultation signals and to wirelessly transmit the first digital signals from the electronic stethoscope via a secure digital network to a second location such that the audio corresponding to the auscultation signals is provided to headsets of one or more additional electronic stethoscopes at the second location in substantial real time with the sensing of the auscultation sounds at the first location.

A system and method for processing sample processing devices. The system can include a base plate adapted to rotate about a rotation axis. The system can further include a cover including a first projection, and a housing. A portion of the housing can be movable with respect to the base plate between an open position and a closed position, and can include a second projection. The first projection and the second projection can be adapted to be coupled together when the portion is in the open position and decoupled when the portion is in the closed position. The method can include coupling the cover to the portion of the housing, moving the portion of the housing from the open position to the closed position, and rotating the base plate about the rotation axis.

Systems for processing sample processing devices

A biomedical sensor system. The system can include a sensor adapted to create a signal based on a physiological characteristic from a subject, and a hub adapted to receive the signal from the sensor. The signal can include at least one of an electromagnetic signal, an electrical signal, an acoustic signal, a mechanical signal, a thermal signal, and a chemical signal. The system can further include a connector adapted to couple the sensor and the hub, the connector having a variable length, such that the sensor and the hub can be positioned a variable distance apart by changing the length of the connector. The connector can be adapted to provide a pathway between the sensor and the hub for the signal. A method of applying a biomedical sensor system to a subject can include changing the length of the variable-length connector to provide an appropriate distance between the sensor and the hub, and coupling the sensor to the subject.

Methods for processing sample materials. Methods of the present disclosure can include providing a device including a process chamber array, the process chamber array including a loading chamber and a process chamber; providing sample material in the process chamber array; moving the sample material within the process chamber array by rotating the device; providing paramagnetic particles within the sample material located in the process chamber array; providing a magnet proximate the device; and rotating the device such that the paramagnetic particles within the sample material are subjected to the magnetic field of the magnet during rotation of the device.
