A skid for use on a snow blower, where the snow blower includes an auger housing through which snow removed from an area is channeled. The skid includes a body that is secured to a vertical side wall of the auger housing. The body includes a sliding surface which assists the auger housing in sliding over snow-covered regions of the area being cleared; and a rolling surface which assists the auger housing to travel over snow-free regions of the area. A slot is provided in the sliding surface of the skid and a portion of the rolling surface projects for a distance below the sliding surface. An adapter plate may be positioned between the body and the side wall of the auger housing. The adapter plate enables the body to be secured to different makes of auger housing.

A chair having a backrest with a Y-shaped member. The member being affixed to the center of the top rail of the backrest frame at one end. The other end of the Y-shaped member connects to backrest fabric, pulls it rearward, and holds the backrest fabric in tension using a pair of retractors. The backrest fabric is secured to the retractors by a welt cord contained within a chamber formed in each retractor. The welt cord is sewn into a fabric sheath that is, in turn, stitched to the backrest fabric. The member is biased to flex rearward when the backrest fabric moves rearward from an at-rest position.

A chair having an arm, a backrest and a flexible backrest support that is rigidly attached to the arm and the backrest. The flexible backrest support includes a spring located between rigid end portions that are mounted to the chair arm and backrest. The flexible backrest support allows the backrest to pivot while the arm remains stationary. Optionally, a supplemental backrest support may be included.

A chair back comprises a back frame, a movable back support, and a contouring assembly. The back frame includes a portion rearward of the back support. The contouring assembly is coupled to the back support and the portion of the back frame. The contouring assembly pulls the back support toward the portion of the back frame. The present invention is also directed to a chair including such a chair back.

A split back chair having a generally L-shaped seat member formed of a horizontal section and a vertical section, and separate independently movable right and left back portions. A first flat spring extends between and hingedly connects the back portions to one another and allows the back portions to pivot toward and away from another. A spring assembly connects each of the back portions to the seat member at right and left sides of the chair. Each spring assembly includes a cover plate and a second flat spring, both of which extend between the vertical section of the seat member and one of the back portions. A pair of removable arm rests are attached on the sides of the seat member. The cover plate houses the second flat spring and an end of the arm rests. The first flat spring and spring assemblies create a triflex action which allow the back portions to independently flex toward and away from one another creating a cradling effect from side to side, and allow the back portions to flex rearwardly to a reclined position.
