Disclosed herein is a roof attachment assembly for mounting a solar panel on a roof without the use of rails. The assembly includes a flashing member, a pivot bracket member, a clamp member, an array skirt and a splice member. The flashing member anchors the roof attachment assembly to the roof. The pivot bracket member is rotatably connected to the flashing member. The clamp member is connected to the pivot bracket member and is rotatably connected thereto. The clamp member includes grounding elements for electrically grounding the solar panel. The array skirt is removably connected to the clamp member. The splice member includes grounding elements for electrically grounding the solar panel and is removably connected to the array skirt. Also disclosed is a method of using the assembly and an assembly kit.

Systems, methods and user interfaces for graphical configuration for ballasted roof mounts of non-rectangular solar arrays. A graphical interface may be provided to allow a user to view a roof grid, and place solar modules within the roof grid where desired, to account for various obstacles on a roof, to create a non-rectangular solar array. Using the layout of the array and various site parameters (building height, wind speed, etc.) and solar module parameters (wide, length, thickness, etc.), the system may calculate a complete bill of materials, customer pricing, ballasting requirements and overall roof loads for a complete solar project.

The invention provides systems and methods for splicing solar panel racks. Solar panel racks may include one, two, or more solar rack sections that may be connected to one another with an internal splice. The internal splice may internally support the adjoining solar racks. The solar rack may be secured to a support surface using one or more feet. The solar panel racks may be configured to support the weight of one or more solar modules. One or more solar module securing component may be used to secure the solar modules to a solar rack surface.

A method for making a fabric having a ground and pile threads inserted between the ground threads is provided. The method comprises a step of weaving two fabrics simultaneously so that the fabrics are positioned parallel and spaced by a predetermined distance, and the pile threads are inserted alternately between the ground threads of one fabric and between those of the other fabric. Also, each pile thread is wound around one of the ground threads by one or more turns. The method further comprises cutting the pile threads between the fabrics, and heat setting the fabrics to bind the pile threads to the ground firmly. The pile threads are made of acrylic yarn, and the weight percentage of the pile threads in the fabric is between 80 and ninety-five 95, and the weight percentage of the ground threads in the fabric is the remainder.

A method for making a blanket is provided. The blanket is made from a fabric that has a ground having wefts and warps, and piles inserted in spaces between the wefts and warps of the ground. The method comprises the steps of weaving the fabric from the wefts, the warps, and the piles, coloring the fabric with a predetermined pattern, heating the fabric to bind the piles firmly, cutting the fabric to a predetermined size for the blanket, and surrounding the edges of the cut fabric with a cloth. The wefts and warps are made of a ground yarn, and the piles are made of an acrylic yarn. The weight percentage of the acrylic yarn in the fabric is in the range between approximately 80 and 95, and the weight percentage of the ground yarn in the fabric is the remainder.

An automatic tape cartridge loader includes a moveable shuttle, for receiving the tape cartridge, and elements for automatically actuating the shuttle during loading and unloading operations. The shuttle includes a door-opening feature, preferably formed as an integral element of one wall of the shuttle. The door-opening feature engages a sliding tape access door on one side of a tape cartridge, as the cartridge is inserted into the shuttle. The preferred embodiment of the shuttle also includes one or more extruded features formed on an opposite wall of the shuttle to justify the cartridge within the shuttle and thereby ensure engagement of the door-opening feature with the access door during cartridge insertion. These features are passive elements, in that they require no mechanical or electrical actuation or any parts that are moveable relative to the shuttle. Instead, these elements rely entirely on the movement of the cartridge into the shuttle to open the access door. The use of integral features to properly position the cartridge and open the door provides a particularly simple mechanism occupying minimal space within the volume allotted for the automatic cartridge loader mechanism. Also, these simple elements are quite durable and resistant to damage.

In an automatic tape cartridge loader, separating the tape from the drive motor during unloading often imposes a high torque requirement on the loader motor, for example to overcome magnetic forces strengthening engagement of the cartridge to the motor. The inventive loader utilizes one or more techniques to assist in separation of the cartridge from the motor gear. One technique involves two compression springs on the base, which apply a force opposing movement of the cartridge shuttle to its cartridge-loaded position and assist in movement of the shuttle from that position during unloading. Another technique utilizes a special cam and follower arrangement to apply different lifting forces on opposite sides of the shuttle, at least during initial movement to unload the cartridge.

Techniques for compensating for high initial unloading force requirement in tape cartridge-loading mechanism

A tape cartridge loader includes a moveable shuttle, for receiving the tape cartridge, and unique elements for actuating the shuttle during loading and unloading operations. The actuating elements occupy minimal space within the loader. Also, these elements provide forces intended to assist in separating the cartridge from the tape drive gear during unloading, so as to require minimal torque from the loader motor during initial operation for unloading a tape cartridge. In the preferred embodiment, the loader includes a substantially flat, rotatable actuator arm. The arm includes a groove, the edges of which serve as cam profiles. These profiles drive a bearing attached to a conveyor to move the conveyor along a linear path during loading and unloading operations. The groove edges are contoured to maintain substantially 90&deg; contact with a circumference of the bearing. This actuator also preferably includes an impact buffer spring. The conveyor interacts through a cam profile and follower arrangement to produce the necessary movements of the shuttle, during loading and unloading operations. During initial lifting in an unloading operation the cam profiles of this arrangement apply different forces on opposite sides of the shuttle. Also, two springs compressed when the shuttle is positioned so that the cartridge is fully loaded apply a load balancing force to the shuttle. The differential lift forces and the spring forces assist in separation of the cartridge gear from the drive gear during unloading, for example to overcome a magnetic attraction between the gears.
