The present disclosure relates to a sealed closure having modular components, enhanced cable sealing, modular connection interfaces, enhanced cable anchoring and enhanced fiber management.

Cable sealant arrangement with port size reducer

The present disclosure relates to sealing arrangements for sealing locations where cables enter/exit enclosures. The sealing arrangements can include first and second cable sealing modules each including a cable sealing surface. The cable sealing surfaces of the first and second cable sealing modules oppose and contact one another at a cable pass-through sealing interface. The sealing arrangements can be adapted to enhance cable diameter range-taking, sealant conformability, and/or sealant recovery from deformation.

Cable sealing arrangement for an enclosure

An enclosure includes a housing having an elongate length between first and second ends, the housing defining a cable pass-through location at a first end, the housing including a first housing piece and a second housing piece that pivotally couple together at the first end of the housing. Each housing piece carries a respective cable sealant module that compress together as the housing is closed. A sealing projection on one of the housing pieces inhibits gel of the sealant modules from extruding into a perimeter seal of the housing.

Methods and compositions are provided for preparation of thermoplastic gels. The compositions have a base composition including a thermoplastic gel and a softener oil and the gel has a hardness between 15 Shore 000 and 65 Shore 000. The gel may also include an additive, such as a mineral filler, an anti-tack agent, and a mixture of a mineral filler and an anti-tack agent. The softener oil may be a high molecular weight oil having a molecular weight greater than about 250 g/mol.

Methods, compositions, and systems are provided for a hybrid thermoplastic gel or sealant. The methods comprise providing (a) a styrenic block copolymer, (b) a Si-vinyl polymer, (c) heat, and optionally (d) an initiator, and reacting the styrenic block copolymer, Si-vinyl polymer, and optional initiator in the presence of the heat to form the hybrid thermoplastic gel. The gel composition may comprise 5-70 wt. % of a styrenic block copolymer, 60-95 wt. % of a Si-vinyl polymer, and 0-10 wt. % of an initiator. A closure or interconnect system may comprise a housing, a cable, and a hybrid thermoplastic gel made by reacting a styrenic block copolymer and a Si-vinyl polymer in the presence of heat.

Hybrid thermoplastic gels and their methods of making

A component is disclosed. In one aspect, the component can be adapted to be secured to an aerial strand which provides support for aerial cables. The component can include an aerial enclosure unit having a housing with first and second housing pieces. The first housing piece can be pivotally moveable relative to the second housing piece about a hinge pivot axis between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The housing having opposite minor sides that extend longitudinally between the first and second ends and opposite major sides that extends longitudinally between the first and second ends and also extends between the opposite minor sides. The component can include a linkage arrangement that couples the aerial enclosure unit to the aerial strand. The linkage arrangement having a first operating state in which the housing is positioned adjacent to and directly beneath the aerial strand with the major sides oriented generally horizontally and a second operating state in which the housing is spaced a sufficient distance from the aerial strand to permit the first and second housing pieces to be pivoted from the closed configuration to the open configuration without interference from the aerial strand.
