An electrical connector system includes a plurality of electrical connectors that can be mounted onto a powered rail. Each of the electrical connectors includes a connector housing that retains an electrical contact. The powered rail includes a tapered alignment guide that receives a complementary tapered arm of the connector housing that locates into the alignment guide so as to position the connectors to the rail.

A compressible electrical contact is disclosed. The compressible electrical contact may include a nose portion, a corrugated portion and a tail portion. The tail portion may extend from a first end of the corrugated portion and the nose portion may extend from an opposite end of the corrugated portion. The corrugated portion may define a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The first and second surfaces may have a width. The corrugated portion may also have a third surface extending between the first and second surfaces and a fourth surface opposite the third surface. A plurality of corrugations may be formed in the third and fourth surfaces of the corrugated portion wherein a first corrugation may extend at least partially between an upper portion and a lower portion of the nose portion.

Battery contact

A pair of mating connectors includes a receptacle having an insulative housing and at least one conductive receptacle contact with a pair of spaced walls forming a plug contact receiving space. The plug connector has an insulative housing and at least one conductive contact having a projection engageable in the plug receiving space of the receptacle contact. The open structure of both the receptacle and plug contacts enhances heat dissipation and allows flexibility in achieving desired contact normal forces. The contact construction is especially useful for electronic power connectors.

Electrical power connector

An electrical connector including a housing; electrical contacts connected to the housing; and a shield connected to the housing. The shield includes connection sections which are adapted to extend through holes in a substrate and be deformed to fixedly and stationarily mount the shield and the housing to the substrate. A spring can be provided between the shield and the substrate.

An edge connector for receiving a first circuit board, circuit card, etc. comprises a housing having a circuit board receiving groove. A plurality of electrical contacts are arranged in the board receiving groove. An ejector member is provided for ejecting the board from the housing, the ejector member is translucent or transparent. A light emitter is optically coupled to the ejector member, so that when the light emitter is lit, the light from the light emitter is transmitted through the translucent or transparent ejector member to provide a visual indication which can be seen by the person inserting the circuit board into the connector.

An assembly for an electronic card includes an end piece, a guide plate, a slide mechanism, and a member rotatably coupled to the slide mechanism. The end piece is for connection to the electronic card. The end piece has an internal side, an external side, and an aperture. The guide plate is coupled to the internal side of the end piece and adjacent to the aperture. The guide plate has a first recess and a second recess. The slide mechanism is located at least partially in the guide plate, and includes a detent. The slide mechanism has an extended position and a retracted position. In the extended position the detent is engaged in the second recess, in the retracted position the detent is engaged in the first recess. Disengaging the detent from either of the first recess and the second recess allows sliding the slide mechanism between the extended position and the retracted position. A member is rotatably coupled to the slide mechanism. The member may be an antenna.

Retractable and rotatable antenna for an electronic card

An electrical contact having a formed one-piece member. The formed one-piece member includes a first connection section adapted to make a removable connection with a mating contact; and a second connection section having a receiving area adapted to have a conductor positioned in the receiving area and fixed to the second connection section by a solder material positioned into the receiving area. The receiving area of the second section includes a center longitudinal axis which is angled relative to a longitudinal connection axis of the first section.

An electrical connector has an insulating housing with an interior cavity for receiving a mating connector and a plurality of openings in communication with the interior cavity. A plurality of contacts, each of. which extends into the interior cavity of the housing from a respective one of the openings, electrically contacts conductors in the mating connector inserted into the interior cavity of the housing. An internal shield extends into the interior cavity from a respective one of the openings and is positioned between the plurality of contacts to create at least two groups of contacts.

A modular jack connector that includes a conductive outer shield and an inner insulative housing that defines a receiving space into which a complementary connector may be inserted. Contacts are provided in the connector that extend into the receiving space to mate with contacts within the complementary connector and to electrically connect the modular jack connector to a printed circuit board. Disposed between predetermined ones of the contacts within the receiving space are filter elements that are provided to reduce electromagnetic interference effects. The filter elements are adapted to mate with the contacts within the complementary connector. The filter elements may be capacitive filters having a capacitance between approximately 60-100 pF.

An electrical connector is disclosed for being mounted on a board and for connecting a loop antenna to a circuit on the board. The antenna connector has a connector block and first and second terminals. The connector block is constructed from a non-conductive material and has opposing top and bottom faces, first and second opposing side faces, and a center portion extending between the top face and bottom face. The center portion defines first and second bays isolated from each other, where the first and second bays are exposed at the top and bottom faces. The first and second bays are further exposed, respectively, at the first side face and the second side face. The first and second terminals are mounted in the first and second bays of the connector block. Each terminal is constructed from a conductive material and has an open jaw positioned at the top face of the connector block, and a contacting portion opposite the open jaw and positioned at the bottom face of the connector block. The antenna connector is mounted to the board such that the bottom face of the connector block faces the board, and such that the contacting portions of the first and second terminals are in electrical contact with corresponding pads on such board. The first and second terminals respectively receive a first end and a second end of the loop antenna.

A connector assembly 10 includes a receptacle 12 and a pin header 14 adapted to mate with the receptacle. A row of resilient enhancement contacts 18 extend through a backplane 16 and is held in place in fixed relation to the receptacle. The receptacle and pin header each comprise an insulative body portion 20, 19, respectively. The receptacle 12 comprises contact pins extending through body portion 20 and arranged in three rows of thirty-two pins per row (3.times.32). The pin header 14 likewise comprises contact pins extending through body portion 19 and arranged in three rows of thirty-two pins per row. The pin header 14 includes a row of contact strips 24 disposed on an outer surface of body portion 19. The contact strips are preferably of uneven lengths to provide for stage mating between the contact strips 24 and corresponding enhancements pins 18.

Disclosed is a vacuum pick up cap for use with receptacles. This vacuum pick up cap has a planer top section which is adapted to be engaged by a vacuum nozzle and a lower section from which a plurality of pegs project to engage apertures in the top surface of the receptacle. These pegs have upper and lower longitudinal sections having different axial dimensions so as to be engageable with receptacles having different size apertures. These upper and lower sections may also have longitudinal axes which are laterally displaced from each other to enable the cap to be used on receptacles having rows of apertures which are displaced at different distances.

A cover (36) for use in transporting headers by vacuum suction comprising a dielectric housing (12), terminals (14) mounted on the housing and pins arranged in an array (18) comprising a plurality of rows (20 and 22), said cover comprising an upper section (38) including a smooth top surface (40), a plurality of generally parallel longitudinal ridges (42, 44 and 46) extending downwardly from the top section and a groove (54 and 56) interposed between adjacent ridges and said ridges and grooves being positioned so that one of said rows of pins is engageable in each of said grooves and a transverse member (62 and 64) extends across at least a part of at least one of the grooves. A method of using the cover is also disclosed.

Vacuum pick-up device for header connector

A self-switching interposer (10) for connecting a mating connector, such as a connector on the end of a cable, to a connector interface, such as a multi-pin connection socket on an electronic computer, includes a housing (12,16), first and second (24) sets of terminals supported in the housing, and a printed circuit board (30) for electrically connecting the first and second sets of terminals. The interposer further includes a switching system (42) for electrically connecting at least a group of the connected terminals to an electronic network (52) when the housing is not mated to a mating connector. The switching system includes a mechanical actuator (60) for disconnecting the group of connected terminals from the electronic network when the housing is mated to a mating connector. As a result, the interposer (10) will connect the connector interface to the network (52) except when the interposer is mated with a mating connector. The network may be used as a terminator circuit, a testing circuit, or for other purposes.
