An electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) is provided with an integrated arc fault detection circuit interruption (AFCI) device to supply electricity to an electric vehicle (EV) being a load. The EVSE comprises a coupler and an AFCI device including: a controller including a processor and a memory, circuitry and computer-readable firmware code stored in the memory which, when executed by the processor, causes the controller to: detect an arcing level of arcing between the coupler and a charge port of the EV or any other series or parallel arcing within the EVSE, compare the arcing level to a threshold level to determine a hazardous nature of arching, and analyze the arcing level to determine not only if it is currently hazardous but if it is likely to become hazardous in a near term and recommend repair or replacement of the coupler and the charge port before damage occurs.

Standalone or networked electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) to detect and stop arcing before it becomes dangerous

A smart residential circuit breaker includes a hybrid assembly that incorporates a solid-state circuit element integrated into a simplified mechanical pole having main contacts. The solid-state circuit element includes a printed circuit board (PCB) with a micro SD reader to provide faster opening speeds. The smart residential circuit breaker is configured for use for different current levels and controlled by the PCB. The smart residential circuit breaker includes a mag-latch. The PCB is configured to send a signal to the mag-latch to open and close the main contacts within microseconds of detecting an over-current.

An electric vehicle charging station with a field upgradeable communications facility is provided. The invention includes a sealable housing including a first compartment and a second compartment, the second compartment including an access to an upgrade port; a partition within the housing that is adapted to insulate the first compartment from the second compartment, the partition including an opening providing access the upgrade port; and an EVSE charging station control circuit configured to recognize a communication module when coupled to the upgrade port and to use the communication module for communications if the communication module is connected. In accordance with the invention a configurable electrical distribution system is provided for selectively connecting an electrical power source to load devices. The system comprises a panel and a plurality of switching devices mounted in the panel, each switching device for connection in a branch circuit to a load device for selectively delivering electrical power to the load device. A panel controller is mounted in the panel and is operatively connected to each of the switching devices. The panel controller comprises a programmed controller for controlling operation of the switching devices and a panel memory connected to the programmed controller storing configuration data relating to operation of the switching devices. A port is provided for operatively connecting an external memory device to the programmed controller. A user interface is operatively associated with the programmed controller to transfer configuration data between the external memory device and the panel memory.

Offline configuration using USB download in an integrated power distribution system

An electrical distribution system is provided for selectively connecting an electrical power source to load devices comprising a plurality of panelboards each having a plurality of load circuit positions. A plurality of pairs of circuit breakers and switching devices are each mounted in one of the load circuit positions. Each pair is electrically connected between an electrical power source and a load device for selectively delivering electrical power to load devices. An I/O controller is mounted in the panelboard for controlling operation of the switching devices. The I/O controller includes a communication circuit. A system controller is connected to each I/O controller communication circuit and comprises a programmed controller for commanding operation of the I/O controllers.

The self contained kilowatt-hour meter of this invention measures the energy usage of a facility, such as, residential unit, a house, an apartment, a condominium, and then it communicates the energy usage in a timely manner or as desired to a local requester, such as, the owner, occupant or any other entity, as well as, to another requester, such as, a remote requester, for example, an energy provider.

An electrical distribution system is provided for selectively connecting an electrical power source to load devices comprising a panelboard having a plurality of load circuit positions. A remote operated device is mountable in the panelboard comprising a load control device, and a device control for controlling the load control device. The device control comprises a programmed controller for operating the load control device responsive to control commands and a communication circuit for receiving control commands. An input/output (I/O) controller is mounted in the panelboard for controlling operation of the remote operated device, the I/O controller comprising a programmed controller for generating the control commands for commanding operation of the remote operated device, the control system including a communication circuit for communication with the remote operated device communication circuit.

An electrical distribution system for selectively connecting an electrical power source to load devices comprises a panelboard having a plurality of load circuit positions. A remote operated relay is mountable in the panelboard in an adjacent pair of the load circuit positions comprising a multipole switching device, and a switch control for controlling the switching device, the switch control comprising a control circuit for operating the switching device responsive to control commands and a communication circuit for receiving control commands. An input/output (I/O) controller is mounted in the panelboard for controlling operation of the remote operated relay, the I/O controller comprising a programmed controller for generating the control commands for commanding operation of the remote operated relay, the control system including a communication circuit for communication with the remote operated relay communication circuit.

An electrical distribution system is provided for selectively connecting an electrical power source to load devices comprising a panel and a plurality of switching devices mounted in the panel. Each switching device is electrically connectable between an electrical power source and a load device for selectively delivering electrical power to the load device. A control system controls operation of the switching devices. The control system comprises a programmed controller for commanding operation of the switching devices. The control system includes analog ports for selectively controlling analog load devices.

Integrated lighting control panel with analog inputs/outputs

A power distribution apparatus for distributing electrical power includes circuit breaker modules and remote operated devices mounted separately in a panel. The devices may be relays, circuit breakers, meters, dimmers or other devices for controlling a circuit. An I/O controller board is connected to the remote operated devices and controls those devices through a data rail. A control module may interface with the I/O controller board and may also interface with other I/O controller boards and with one or more networks. A serial communications line connects the I/O interface board with a number of remote operated devices. A separate select line runs from each remote operated device to the I/O controller board. To operate a particular device, the I/O controller board asserts the select line of that device, causing the device to listen for messages on the serial line. The relay executes commands contained in a message only of the select line for that device is asserted.
