An electrode that includes an elongate lead body and a nerve cuff. The nerve cuff may include a biologically compatible, elastic, electrically insulative cuff body configured to be circumferentially disposed around a nerve, first and second relatively wide electrically conductive contacts carried by the cuff body that are spaced from one another in the length direction and that extend in the width direction to such an extent that they extend completely around the cuff body inner lumen when the cuff body is in the pre-set furled shape, and a plurality of relatively narrow electrically conductive contacts carried by the cuff body that are spaced from one another in the width direction and are located between the first and second relatively wide electrically conductive contacts.

In various embodiments, a drug pump includes a housing and, within the housing, an expandable drug reservoir at least part of which is exposed to a pressurized propellant. The propellant exerts a substantially constant pressure on the drug reservoir. A flow restrictor significantly limits outflow from the pump, and preferably has both a small diameter and a long path length, which acts to control the outflow from the drug reservoir. As a result, the pump produces a substantially constant outflow.

The invention is a pump cap that is designed to seat on top of a receptacle, which in at least one example is filled with powder or hair fibers. The cap is fitted on top with a deformable dome with an empty chamber of air within it. The cap has an air inlet with a check valve that then opens into a wide flared opening into the dome's empty chamber. The air in the dome is pushed past a check valve and down a long passageway into the receptacle to aggressively disturb the powder or hair fibers within the receptacle. The disturbed hair fibers or powder then exits the cap through a third passage with a flared opening that is flush with the bottom of the cap that then exits out the side of the cap.

An infusion device includes a disc-shaped housing that is made from a biocompatible material. The housing contains a reservoir for holding a volume of infusion medium, such as a medication to be administered to the patient. The inlet structure is coupled in flow communication with the reservoir, to allow the reservoir to be filled or refilled. The housing has an outlet through which the infusion medium may be expelled. Any one or combination of aspects may be employed to minimize or reduce the required thickness T of the inlet structure and of the infusion device, including: the selection of a convergence angle of the cone-shaped depression to be within the range of about 60&#xb0; and 180&#xb0; and, preferably about 150&#xb0;; a septum having one or more sealing ribs or a recess for receiving a support ring, to allow the septum to be made relatively thin without compromising sealing or support functions; a cup member having grooves and indentations formed in its inner surfaces, to improve flow of infusion medium without added structural thickness; a valve member having a relatively shallow needle-receiving depression or having a recess for receiving and sharing thickness with a the spring; and an inlet configuration which accommodates a needle having an opening located near its tip and, thus, employs a relatively short stroke of the valve member between closed and open states of the valve member.

An implantable infusion device includes of a disc-shaped housing that is made from a biocompatible material and contains a reservoir. The reservoir defines a chamber that contains at least one flexible diaphragm. A ring is provided in alignment with the peripheral edge of each diaphragm. The ring has a central opening that is aligned with the convolution and central portion of each diaphragm, to allow the diaphragm to flex within the ring. In this manner, the volume on one side of each diaphragm may be varied to correspond to a varying volume of infusion medium. Similarly, the volume within the reservoir chamber on the other side of the diaphragms is varied as the diaphragms flex, to correspond to the expansion and contraction of a propellant medium within the reservoir.
