A handrail system for a work vehicle has a handrail including a first rail member configured to extend in first direction and a second rail member coupled to the first rail member and configured to extend in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The handrail system also has a fold structure configured to couple the handrail to the work vehicle and move the handrail between an upright position and a folded position with respect to the work vehicle. When in the folded position, the handrail has a support surface that is elevated along a central area of the handrail higher than at least one side of the handrail.

Embodiments include a tactile guidance system and various mechanisms for orienting and mounting the tactile guidance system on motorized vehicles such as agricultural spray vehicles. For example, a rod-shaped tactile guidance detector is positioned protruding out sideways from the inner side of each of the front wheels of a self-propelled sprayer vehicle or a tractor. The guidance system is used to detect the location of objects including crops and plants and determine a path of travel.

An independent strut suspension utilizes upright twin spindles and a spindle cap linked to the spindles that translates vertically along the spindles as the suspension moves over uneven terrain. An upright strut shaft is mounted in a strut journal for axial and rotational movement with respect to the journal. A steering arm is connected for rotation about the strut shaft axis, and the strut shaft moves axially with respect to the steering arm as the frame moves over the uneven terrain. The upright spindles connect the steering arm and the upper mount, and a spring is supported between the upper end of the strut shaft and the upper mount and provides cushioning for the wheel support as the strut shaft moves axially in the journal.

A very compact and cushioned narrow front assembly for a high crop spray vehicle. A U-shaped and generally horizontal pivoting frame is connected to the lower end of a steering yoke for rocking about a first axis. A ground wheel is carried on the side legs of the U-shaped frame for rotation about a second axis offset in the rearward direction slightly from the first axis. A pair of shock absorbers extend downwardly from the upper portion of the steering yoke to pivotal connections with each of the side legs just behind and above the second axis. The forward ends of the side legs, which terminate rearwardly of the forwardmost extremity of the ground wheel, are each pivotally connected to the eye-end of a tension link which extends upwardly through a spring abutment bracket fixed to the lower end of the corresponding side of the yoke. A spring is compressed between the upper end of each of the links and the corresponding spring abutment bracket to provide balanced shock-absorbed cushioning.
