Systems and methods for examining spectral data over the course of a high speed event are described. The systems and methods can enable observation of the spectral evolution of a transient phenomenon into segment intervals on the order of, milliseconds or microseconds. The methods include reflecting light from an event off of a rotating mirror and sequentially delivering light from the mirror to a series of optical waveguides for sequential spectral analysis. The systems and methods can be useful in a wide variety of applications such as, LIBS applications; examination of high energy devices such as explosions or simulations of explosions; examination of deposition processes, e.g., coating formations; examination of chemical reactions; etc.

Systems and methods for defining attributes for one or more entries in a computer implemented directory structure. The method comprises grouping a set of non-schema attributes associated with a directory entry into a multivalue schema attribute, wherein the multivalue attribute comprises values associated with each of the corresponding non-schema attributes grouped into the multivalue attribute; encoding at least one of the non-schema attributes into a string having one or more parts; and performing computing operations on the non-schema attributes in the directory entries based on content of the encoded strings defined in the multivalue attribute in which the respective non-schema attributes are grouped.

A method, system, and program product are provided for minimizing replication when a new server is replicated with. A replication application for a client computer having a replica of a database thereon is executed by a processor in a computer to receive for a replication service comprising a plurality of servers containing replicas of the database, an indication of each healthy server in the replication service and a determined period of time within which replication is assured to have been completed for each healthy server. The replication application updates a replication history after successful completion of each replication by adding an entry comprising an identification for the server replicated with and a timestamp for the time of replication and by adding an entry for each other healthy server in the replication service containing an identification for the respective server and an imputed timestamp adjusted for the determined period of time.

A method, device, and program product are provided for inter-site database replication. A replicating server tracks other servers that it needs to replicate with and the sites where the other servers are located. In response to an indication to replicate, the replicating server determines whether each of the other servers is at the same location as the replicating server or a different location from the replicating server. The replicating server replicates with each of the other servers at the same site as the replicating server, and the replicating server replicates with only one of the servers at each different site. The replicated server at each different site replicates with the other servers at the site of the replicated server.

A system for providing dynamic queue splitting to maximize throughput of queue entry processing while maintaining the order of queued operations on a per-destination basis. Multiple queues are dynamically created by splitting heavily loaded queues in two. As queues become dormant, they are re-combined. Queue splitting is initiated in response to a trigger condition, such as a queue exceeding a threshold length. When multiple queues are used, the queue in which to place a given operation is determined based on the destination for that operation. Each queue in the queue tree created by the disclosed system can store entries containing operations for multiple destinations, but the operations for a given destination are all always stored within the same queue. The queue into which an operation is to be stored may be determined as a function of the name of the operation destination.

The present invention provides a method, system and program product for replicating message status changes across messaging systems. Specifically, under the present invention, when a status of a message for a user is changed on a messaging system, the status change is entered into a log associated with the user along with a clock time of the messaging system. The status change is then replicated to a replica messaging system along with the clock time of the original messaging system. Upon receipt, the replica messaging system will ensure that the status change is the most recent activity for the message. If so, the status change will be entered into a log of the replica messaging system along with the clock time of the original messaging system and a clock time of the replica messaging system.

A well casing perforator for efficiently recovering available water in a previously drilled well by perforating the well casing. The well casing perforator generally includes a frame adapted to be inserted within a well casing and move in a direction parallel to a central longitudinal axis of the well casing, at least one perforator pivotally connected to the frame and including a plurality of spikes extending therefrom for engagement with the well casing and at least one spring to impart a bias force upon the perforator so that the spikes automatically grab the well casing and rotate through the well casing with a change in directional movement of the frame.

Method for replicating message status changes across messaging systems

Under the present invention, a method, system, and program product for preventing an unread activity from being sent back (i.e., bounced-back) to its originating server during a replication operation are provided. The method includes: storing an identification of an originating server of a replicated unread activity, the unread activity being associated with a read/unread status of an email, in an unread log of a receiving server; during a subsequent replication process initiated by the receiving server, preventing replication of the unread activity back to the originating server; during the subsequent replication process, replicating the unread activity to at least one other server; and storing the identification of the originating server with the unread entry.

In a network in which local copies of a shared document are maintained by multiple servers, performance data is gathered and stored during document synchronization via replication. The performance data includes a delay indicator which is associated with the document such that each copy of the document includes a record of which servers and hops were traversed and what delay was experienced at each of those servers and hops. The delays may be calculated by associating a time stamp with the document upon receipt at a server, and subsequently comparing time of receipt at a logically adjacent server with the time stamp. The performance data can be used to locate problems.

A self-ligating module for removable attachment to a conventional orthodontic bracket includes a stem removably securable in the vertical slot in the bracket and a clip pivotably secured to the head of the stem. The clip can pivot between an open position in which the archwire slot of the bracket is open to receive an archwire, and a closed position in which the archwire is secured in the archwire slot by the clip. The module allows conventional orthodontic brackets to be selectively modified so as to become self-ligating brackets. The module can be readily removed when the self-ligating feature is not needed.

An improved orthodontic accessory for transmitting corrective forces from a corrective force generation device to an orthodontic bracket securable on a tooth generally includes a pin interconnected at one end with a channel defining member. The pin is insertable in a pin receiving slot of an orthodontic bracket also having a primary arch wire slot for receiving an arch wire therethrough. The bracket may be an Edgewise orthodontic bracket and the pin receiving slot may extend vertically. The channel defining member defines a channel, which extends laterally in at least one of a mesial and a distal direction and which may be closed, for receiving a corrective force generation device therethrough. Corrective forces applied by the corrective force generation device to the channel defining member are transmittable to the orthodontic bracket by the pin. A method of applying corrective forces to a patient's tooth involves attaching an orthodontic bracket to the tooth, inserting the pin of the disclosed orthodontic accessory device into a vertically extending slot of the bracket, and engaging a corrective force generation device in the channel of the accessory device. A portion of the pin may be bent to secure the accessory device to the bracket, and, after the corrective forces are applied to the tooth for a period of time, the corrective force generation device may be disengaged from the channel and the pin may be removed from the vertically extending slot to remove the accessory device from the bracket.

An orthodontic applicance for preventing unwanted rotation of a tooth during its translational movement along a main guide-wire. The appliance is adapted to be held by at least one bracket affixed to a tooth. The appliance includes a main spring assembly for causing, when activated, translational movement of a tooth along the main guide-wire to reduce space between the tooth and another tooth. An auxiliary spring assembly, which is separate and spaced from the main spring assembly, includes a spring and a mesial leg extending from the spring. The auxiliary spring assembly is used to substantially prevent unwanted rotation of the tooth being moved in a lateral direction. Orthodontic wire, which includes an anchoring end, interconnects the auxiliary spring assembly and the main spring assembly. In the preferred embodiment, the mesial leg and spring are connected to a side of the bracket while the anchoring end is connected to another tooth other than the tooth having the bracket to which the auxiliary spring assembly is connected.
