Devices, systems and methods are provided for adsorbing hydrocarbons from the air intake system of an internal combustion engine. The devices, systems and methods include a hydrocarbon absorbent material, and a structural element configured to hold the hydrocarbon absorbent material within a clean air tube of an internal combustion engine.

Engine hydrocarbon adsorber

A modular air induction system for a vehicle is provided. The air induction system includes a housing, a partition, and a plurality of holding members. The housing defines a chamber and includes an opening in fluid communication with the chamber. A partition is located within the housing to separate the chamber into a first and second volume thereby changing attenuation characteristics of the chamber. The partition is fixed within the chamber by at least one first holding member, thereby defining a first partition location. In addition, at least one second holding member is located within the housing and is adapted to receive the partition, thereby defining a second partition location.

In one aspect of the present invention, a hydrocarbon trapping device is provided, including a conduit and an adsorbing element positioned within the conduit. The conduit includes a wall having a wall thickness and the adsorbing element has an adsorbing element thickness that is generally equal to or less than the wall thickness. Furthermore, the adsorbing element defines a leading edge, a trailing edge, and a flow path extending between the leading and trailing edges in a direction substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the conduit.
