A system that incorporates aspects of the subject disclosure may perform operations including, for example, identifying a selection of a SINR measurement target of a number of different SINR measurement targets. A SINR measurement of a second base station based on the SINR measurement target is obtained prior to a changing of an amplitude of a portion of a signal of a first base station. A determination is made as to whether the changing of the amplitude of the portion of the signal has reduced a second average SINR measurement of the second base station below a SINR threshold. In response to determining that the changing of the amplitude of the portion of the signal has reduced the second average SINR measurement of the second base station below the SINR threshold, the changing of the amplitude of the portion of the signal is reversed. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Adjusting signal power to increase performance of communication links of communication nodes

A system that incorporates aspects of the subject disclosure may perform operations including, for example, obtaining performance measurements for a number of sectors or a number of paths and determining whether one or more of the performance measurements are below a threshold. A power level of at least a portion of a received uplink signal is adjusted to increase a performance measurement of an affected sector of the number of sectors or an affected path of the number of paths falling below the threshold. A determination is made as to whether the adjusting of the power level of at least the portion of the received uplink signal has improved the performance measurement of the affected sector or the affected path. Other embodiments are disclosed.

A system that incorporates aspects of the subject disclosure may perform operations including, for example, receiving a first signal operating at a first carrier frequency, receiving a second signal operating at a second carrier frequency, the first carrier frequency differing from the second carrier frequency, generating a combined signal based on the first signal and the second signal, measuring power levels in the combined signal, averaging at least a portion of the power levels to generate an average power level, determining a threshold according to the average power level, and monitoring interference in the combined signal according to the threshold. Method and apparatus for mitigating interference

A method and apparatus that personalizes preferences for a thin client using custom menus is disclosed. The method may include receiving registering capabilities from the thin client, storing feature list for all devices, generation of a custom alert settings menu based on the thin client's capabilities, storing selected alert settings, and generating a list of all registered devices that have similar alert capabilities as the thin client. The custom menu can be viewed by a user on any device that has display capabilities. The user can select from among the alert settings supported by the thin client or select the alert settings for the thin client that is similar to a registered device. Apparatus is also provided for mapping alert capabilities from the feature list and the received alert preferences from a user. Thin client mapping of mapping of alert type is also provided for processing an alert request from an external device.

Method and apparatus for transparently mapping personalized alert preferences onto thin client devices with differing capabilities

A method, a tap initiator, and tap target in a close proximity communication are disclosed. A tap interfacemay initiate a tap with a tap target. The tap interfacemay receive a tap from a tap initiator. A tap gaugemay measure a tap duration between the tap initiatorand the tap target. A processormay determine if the tap duration is within a first duration range and a second duration range and executes a first action for the first duration range and a second action for the second duration range.
