A system and method of at least partially forming reinforced packages. The method comprises moving a construct in a machine direction on a construct conveyor. The construct conveyor can comprise a primary lug belt with a primary lug, the construct can be disposed on the primary lug belt, and the moving the construct can comprise moving the primary lug belt in the machine direction to push the construct in the machine direction. The method further can comprise positioning a liner on the construct conveyor so that the liner at least partially extends over the construct and moving the liner in the machine direction on a secondary lug belt of the construct conveyor. The secondary lug belt can comprise a secondary lug and the moving the liner can comprise moving the secondary lug belt in the machine direction to push the liner in the machine direction.

Method and system for forming packages

A container that includes a microwave interactive web at least partially overlying and joined to a three-dimensional support, wherein the three-dimensional support may be formed prior to having the microwave interactive web mounted thereto. The three-dimensional support may be a preformed container that is sufficiently rigid and dimensionally stable for use in containing food.

A container includes a microwave interactive web at least partially overlying and joined to a three-dimensional support, wherein the three-dimensional support may be formed prior to having the microwave interactive web mounted thereto. The three-dimensional support may be a preformed container that is sufficiently rigid and dimensionally stable for use in containing food.

A die apparatus for supporting and retaining rotary dies in operation having a base, a cover supported by a plurality of columns, a cross member moveable along the columns and modular die supports rollingly engaged with the rotary dies. A method of installing and removing the rotary dies from the apparatus includes moving the dies along a first axis of movement within the apparatus through use of a support strap and moving the dies to and from the apparatus through use of a conveyor.

Rotary die module

An improved headwear shaping device which is compact, lightweight, modular and contains an arcuate channel for receiving the visor portion of athletic headwear, shaping the visor by applying equal pressure throughout the perimeter of the visor. The shaping device also provides a stabilizing arm perpendicular to the inserted visor causing the visor to extend parallel to the horizontally axis of the cap for display and storage. The unitary shaped body of the invention is comprised of a lightweight, compact, cost-effective rigid material which also provides for enhanced portability of headwear while not in use.

Athletic headwear shaping device and method

A high speed material processing and stacking apparatus and method for overlapping and slowing the linear progression of material pieces in a continuous stream. The apparatus may include a doubler conveyor for separating material pieces in a stream permitting a substantial reduction in the linear velocity downstream. The apparatus and method may also include a discharge conveyor having a dam separator to introduce controlled separations to form discrete numbers of materials for further processing and shipping.

High speed stacking apparatus

A method of making a pair of rotary die cylinders with lands having coacting cutting edges which cut blanks from a web of material passing through the nip of the rotating dies. In cross section each land has an outer face and a pair of spaced apart side faces which are parallel to each other and perpendicular to the chord of the outer face to provide a clean cut and facilitate release of the cut blank from the cutting blades as it emerges from the nip of the dies. The die cylinders are journalled for rotation by recesses with frusto conical locating surfaces in their opposed ends. Each die cylinder is made by machining the recesses in the opposed ends of a generally cylindrical workpiece of tool steel and then utilizing the recesses to locate and orient the workpiece relative to a cutting tool to produce a cylindrical surface on the workpiece concentric with the axis of the recesses and then to machine away portions of the periphery of the cylindrical surface to form the cutting blade lands thereon. After machining is completed the cutting blade lands may be hardened by heat treating utilizing a laser beam directed onto the lands to heat them at an elevated temperature so that upon quenching they are hardened without any substantial hardening and resulting distortion of the core or body of the workpiece.

Method of making rotary cutting dies

Method and apparatus for repetitively making products, such as cap liners continuously from web material. A rotary knife drum having an array of die cutters cooperates with a counter-rotating anvil to thereby define a convergent web working zone therebetween. A pair of servo-motor driven nip feeders feed a web through the convergent work zone of the drum and anvil. Motor and belt drive means continuously unidirectionally rotates the knife drum and anvil at a constant angular velocity, while the web feeder cycles to first advance the web through the work zone such that travel speed and direction matches that of each die cutter as it passes through the work zone in the web travel path to thereby cut a cap liner from the web, quickly stops and then retracts the web a given pullback distance when each die cutter travels clear of the web travel path and before the next cutter enters the same, and then resumes quickly web advance to match travel of the next die cutter as it passes through the web travel path to thereby cut another cap liner. The pullback mode thereby forms a condensed rollout web working pattern of liner cut-outs in the web. An array of transfer posts on a transfer roll travel into and out of individual registry and sequentially with the die cutters to thereby pick off cut liners from the cutters for transport travel on the posts. An escapement supplies caps side-by-side and shifts them into alignment with successive transfer posts for transfer of cut liners successively into the caps.
