A non-rotational casing hanger and seal assembly running tool for use in oil and gas drilling operations has a mandrel and a tool body that is carried by the mandrel. The tool body supports a plurality of latching segments for releasably connecting the tool body to a seal assembly. A plurality of latching dogs on the tool body releasably connect the tool body to a casing hanger. Axial movement between the tool body and mandrel operates a pressure responsive shuttle piston positioned on the mandrel to urge the seal assembly into sealing position. A ball valve positioned in the mandrel bore is operable between open and closed positions to allow independent operations to be carried out such as cementing the casing hanger in position through the mandrel bore and operating the shuttle piston to then allow overpull to unlatch the tool from the casing hanger for retrieval.

A landing shoulder is provided on a series of collets extending from a frangible ring. The collets are biased into a groove which is itself in a recess in the wellhead housing. Deployment of the landing shoulder in its retracted position allows an additional string of casing to be run which is nominally close to the inside seal bore diameter of the wellhead housing. The ability to add an additional casing string on a wellhead housing of a particular size allows isolation of water-producing zones near the surface in a cost-effective manner where mud used to control water production is recovered. In a subsequent trip after the large casing is hung below the body, a setting tool engages the rings supporting the collets defining the landing shoulder. The hydraulic pressure built up in the setting tool actuates a piston to break a portion of the ring supporting the collets so that they are driven and locked down in a set position where they define a landing shoulder in the bore for a subsequent run of casing. The actuation is done in the manner to give surface personnel a signal that the collets have been actuated into position to accept the next casing string.

A subsea landing base including a plurality of guide posts interconnected to a housing support structure including an upper annular plate, a lower annular plate, an annular control plate supported on the upper annular plate and rotatable thereon, a connection between the control plate to a landing ring to actuate the landing ring between housing supporting position and expanded position, rotation of the control plate to one of its positions of running, released and landed and locked, and a tool for rotation of the control plate and for retrieval of the landing base.

A subsea tieback connector including an annular body having an external downwardly facing shoulder with high pressure gasket type sealing means therein, a sleeve positioned within said annular body and having means preventing relative rotation between the sleeve and the body, a lock ring, an actuator ring threaded into said sleeve and having its lower end in engagement with an internal upwardly facing shoulder on said annular body whereby rotation of said actuating ring causes said lock ring to be set and then tensions said sleeve to load the connection.
