A temperature sensor for a radiant heater has a first tubular expansion element which is connected to its housing and contains a second rod-like expansion element, the two expansion elements having different coefficients of thermal expansion. The temperature sensor has two switching springs for different switching points. In order to adjust a second switching spring, which is fastened to a second switching spring base, the second switching spring base can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the rod and is then permanently fixed by bending or welding.

An electromechanical temperature detection device for a cooking appliance comprises a first rod-shaped sensor part and a second tubular-shaped sensor part. The first sensor part and the second sensor part are made from materials having different thermal expansion co-efficients. The first sensor part is positioned inside the second sensor part. An end area of the first sensor part is connected to the second sensor part in the end area of the second sensor part and the opposite end area of the first sensor part is connected to a switching device. The second sensor part consists of a sheet metal stamped part which is embodied along a longitudinal axis such that it surrounds a longitudinal area in a tubular like manner with a first sensor part positioned inside the tubular part.

For reducing the click rate and improving the setting accuracy, in the case of a power control unit (11) for electric heating appliances, a contact separation (D) of two contacts (14, 15) can be varied independently of a position change of an appliance switch (12) with a snap-action element (16). Preferably, the position of the counterstop (33) is modified by an application thereof to a separation cam disk (36). The appliance switch position is fixed by means of a power cam disk (28) and determines the power level.
