A cable connector assembly and method for making, wherein the assembly connects to a flat ribbon cable having a plurality of conductors and electrical insulation about the conductors. The cable connector assembly includes a plurality of electrical contacts, each including a terminal configured to connect to at least one of the conductors of the flat ribbon cable directly through the electrical insulation to form an electrical junction. Each contact is configured to electrically connect to an external member. The cable connector assembly has a housing for holding the contacts arranged in a first row and as second row where the contacts in the rows form a grid and are connected in an offset manner to minimize cross talk.

Low noise IDC terminal/pin arrangement for flat ribbon cable connectors

A press-fit integrated chip package is provided comprising a laminate base structure having plated through holes for introducing press-fit elements, and a laminate cover structure providing very fine conducting paths and having a top mounting plane for mounting chips.

Press-fit chip package

An assembly for mounting elongated electrical contact elements to an integrated circuit package or printed circuit board. The assembly comprises a a base plate having a first surface and a multiplicity of recesses aligned with each other in the first surface. Each of the recesses is sized and configured to receive a respective one of the contact elements. The assembly also comprises first and second spaced apart supports extending from the base plate. The assembly also comprises first and second rods received by the first and second supports and supported parallel to each other. The first and second rods define an intervening slot aligned with the recesses. The assembly also comprises a multiplicity of the contact elements. One end of each of the contact elements is received in a respective one of the recesses. The contact elements are engaged by the first and second rods, whereby the contact elements are held in their respective recesses. The rods are removable from the first and second supports to permit the contact elements to be removed from the base plate.

A contact assembly comprised of two parts bonded (e.g., welded) together, the first part including a male pin portion and the second part including a cylindrical jacket terminating in a flat end surface adapted for being electrically coupled (e.g., soldered) to a conductor (e.g., pad) on a substrate (e.g., PCB). Several contact assemblies may be positioned within a housing or substrate, to form a connector assembly which may then be positioned on and electrically coupled to a second substrate (e.g., a PCB), forming an electronic assembly.

The invention relates to an apparatus for establishing an electrical and/or optic connection of a first and a second component with a third component with connection means 14, 15 for electrical and/or optic connection of the first and second component with each other, whereby the connection means 14, 15 allow mechanical free-play between the first and second component, with a connection link 13, 16 each for the first and the second component for electrical and/or optic connection of the first and the second with a third component, and with an apparatus 31, 32, 33, 34 for limitation of the mechanical free-play between the first and the second component.
