A mold cooling system for an I.S. machine wherein cooling air is supplied to vertical cooling holes defined in the molds either at their ends or midway along their length.

A mold open and close mechanism uses the hook of a blank mold half and the associated ridges of the upper mold support hanger to maintain the blank mold half on the mold but defines a vertical locating structure for placing the bottom surface of the blank mold half on the top horizontal surface of the lower mold support hanger with a vertical space between the hook of the blank mold half and the upper mold support hanger.

Mold support mechanism for an I. S. machine

A mold cooling system is disclosed for the blank mold halves of an I.S. machine. The mold halves are supported at their bottom by a lower hanger assembly which includes a discrete plenum for each of the mold halves. Each plenum is isolated and has its own air supply which includes an adjustable flow control. This provides complete control of the mold cooling process.

A valve block for a glass container forming machine comprises a frame supporting a plurality of valve stations. Each of the stations is provided with a valve. The frame comprises pressure passages connected to supplies of compressed air, and control sleeves at each station determine which supply is available to the valve at that station. The valves and the control sleeves are all accessible from one face of the valve block.

Valve block

A mounting structure for use in a glassware forming machine for moving an operative member, such as a funnel, baffle or blowhead, between an out of the way and operative positions. The machine comprises a vertical operating shaft and a parallel support shaft, and the mounting structure comprises a first link adjustably mounted on the operating shaft and a second link slidably mounted on the support shaft. The two links are both pivoted to a head and form a parallel linkage with it. A key and keyway, maintains the first link in a desired angular relationship with the operating shaft. The head is provided with a releasable device by which the operative member may be secured to the head in a desired angular relationship.

Mounting Structure for a baffle or the like in a glassware manufacturing

An adjustable mounting for a deflector of a trough assembly in a glass machine is adjustable in two perpendicular directions in a horizontal plane. More than one deflector may be used.

An arrangement in a glassware forming machine for connecting a supply of operating air to a mechanism mounted in a frame of the machine, which mechanism may need to be adjusted in position vertically in the machine comprises a flexible pipe which connects the mechanism to a supply of operating air, and a sleeve for permitting a change of length of the pipe so that adjustment of the mechanism can be accommodated.

A mould mechanism for use in a glassware forming machine comprise two mould arms which are mounted on a single transverse rod. The rod is of hardened steel, one of the mould arms is secured to a cast iron sleeve which slides on the rod, the other to a hardened steel sleeve which slides on the cast iron sleeve. A slide member on each mould arm engages a horizontal slideway and is adjustable to determine the position of the mould arms.

A mold mechanism for use in a glassware forming machine comprises two mold arms which are mounted on a single transverse rod. The rod is of hardened steel, one of the mold arms is secured to a cast iron sleeve which slides on the rod, the other to a hardened steel sleeve which slides on the cast iron sleeve. A slide member on each mold arm engages a horizontal slideway and is adjustable to determine the position of the mold arms.

A trough assembly for the delivery of gob to mould cavities in a glassware forming machine comprises an upwardly facing trough and a downwardly facing deflector which are supported in the machine by a hanger. The hanger comprises a supporting member which can be fixed in the frame of the machine, a first flexible hanger member extending axially in a bore of the supporting member and a second rigid hanger member fixed to the first flexible member. The trough and the deflector are supported by the second hanger member and small adjustments of their position may be obtained by flexing of the flexible member and movement of the rigid member in the bore of the supporting member.

A pneumatically operated mechanism for a glassware forming machine is located in an aperture in a top plate of the machine and comprises entry ports in a downwardly facing surface which mate with exit ports for air supplies located in an upwardly facing surface of the top plate.

A trough system for the delivery of a gob of molten glass from a gob distributor to a parison mould cavity in a glassware forming machine comprises a trough assembly comprising an upwardly facing inclined trough which is arranged to receive a gob from a scoop of the gob distributor and a downwardly facing deflector which deflects a gob which has travelled down the trough into a vertical path to fall into the parison mould cavity. The deflector and the trough are mounted on a hanger which is supported in a frame member of the machine by a universal joint adjustable about three perpendicular axes. Consequently adjustment of the position of the deflector may be made without causing misalignment of the deflector and the trough.
