Machining tool

A metal removing tool, in particular lancing insert, has a holder (10) with a slot-shaped recess (11) and a cutting insert (12) detachably held therein under a prestress by means of an elastically expandable clamping arm (101) designed as one side of the recess (11). The opposite cooperating insertion and bearing surfaces of the cutting insert (12) and slot-shaped recess (11) have a V-shaped cross-section. At its insertion and bearing surface facing the clamping arm (101), the cutting insert has a plurality of substantially flat partial surfaces (124, 125, 126) arranged behind each other in the insertion direction. Two surfaces enclose an obtuse angle .alpha. and form a salient point at the ridge (127), so that the clamping arm (101) engages the cutting insert (12) between the ridge (127) and the cutting edge (121) in the clamping state. In particular to prevent the cutting insert from being drawn out of its seat, the partial surface (124) engaged by the clamping arm (101) is inclined so as to form a negative angle .beta. with respect to the bearing surface (128) or the plane defined by the bearing lines of the cutting insert.

Metal removing tool, in particular lancing insert

A machine spindle is formed with an axially centered forwardly flared large-diameter seat, provided in the seat with at least two axially and radially displaceable spindle jaws, having an axially displaceable actuating rod axially coupled with the jaws, and formed with cam formations engageable with the jaws to move same together on axial rearward displacement. A transfer body or a tool is normally also centered on the axis and formed with an axially centered rearwardly tapered small-diameter stem substantially smaller than the seat. An adapter comprises an adapter body normally centered on the axis and formed with a forwardly open small-diameter adapter seat complementary with the tool stem, a rearwardly projecting adapter stem snugly receivable in the large-diameter seat of the spindle, a flange flatly engageable with the front end of the spindle when the stem is in the spindle seat, and at least one rearwardly projecting tongue having a radially deflectable rear end engageable between a respective one of the jaws and the spindle when the stem is in the spindle seat to press the one jaw radially inward. A connector rod is axially limitedly displaceable in the adapter body between a front position and a rear position and has a rear end formed as a head engageable by the jaws. At least one member engageable between the rod and the tool stem to lock the tool in the adapter seat when the connector rod is in the rear position.

Adapter for machine-tool spindle

A linearly and angularly adjustable holder for a cutting tool having primary and secondary cutting edges includes a basic element, a receptacle element for the cutting tool rotatably mounted on the basic element, and a setting element slidably mounted on the basic element. The receptacle element is mounted on the basic element so as to be pivotal about the point of intersection of the primary and secondary cutting edges of the cutting bit. An adjustment screw 50 whose threaded portion is seated in the basic element and whose head engages a recess in the receptacle element serves to perform the angular adjustment. The linear adjustment is accomplished with the aid of a double threaded adjustment screw which connects a wedge and the basic element and which slidably engages the setting member to control the length of the holder.

Adjustable holder for a cutting tool

A chuck which can be clamped into a spindle of a machine tool and which is for use with a cutting tool having a shaft with a circular cross section. The chuck includes a body provided with a central bore having an end region in which the surface of the central bore is conically shaped for receiving the shaft of the cutting tool. The body includes a shaft projecting toward its rear side. The shaft is configured to be clamped into the spindle of the machine tool and is provided with a further bore. A clamping screw is disposed in the further bore of the shaft and has a head which is accessible from the front side of the body. A pull rod is displaceably disposed in the central bore and has a threaded end extending into the end region of the central bore for connection to the shaft of the cutting tool. An attachment mechanism is provided for attaching the pull rod to the clamping screw so that displacement of the clamping screw in the further bore causes displacement of the pull rod in the central bore.

Chuck for use with a cutting tool

A milling cutter including a supporting body having a longitudinal axis and presenting a frontal face and a circumferential side. The supporting body is provided with a radial recess. A plurality of cutting plates are disposed along the circumferential side and arranged in rows each extending generally in the longitudinal direction of the supporting body. At least one of the cutting plates is a face cutting plate having a cutting edge for cutting at both the circumferential side and at the frontal face. The cutter includes a cassette having a quadrilateral cross section and disposed in the recess. The face cutting plate is fastened to the cassette, and at least one fastening element is provided for releasably tightening the cassette in the recess.

Milling cutter

A milling cutter has a cutter body, a plurality of stops received in the cutter body, an adjusting device for separately axially displacing each stop, a cutter blade received in each stop and a wedge member associated with each stop for tightening each cutter blade to the respective stop. The adjusting device comprises a projection which is attached to and extends from each stop and which is received in a recess provided in the cutter body, at least two axially oriented clamping faces which form part of each projection and which are inclined with respect to one another and set screws cooperating with each clamping face. Each set screw is supported in the cutter body in a substantially radial orientation with respect to the axis of the cutter body. Each clamping face is obliquely disposed with respect to the orientation of the associated set screw for effecting an axial shift of the stop upon tightening the respective set screw.
