A device for locking a corner post of a loading platform, or flat, in its vertical operative position, including a pin at the lower end of the post accommodated by a socket fixed with respect to the platform, and a torsion spring which is stressed during the vertical downward movement of the post when the post is erected. A hook-shaped catch on the post engages a plate fixed with respect to the platform to prevent accidental movement of the post from its operative position. A lever, arranged at an angle to the corner post, interconnects the corner post and the torsion spring. The torsion spring is also stressed when the corner post is folded down upon the platform in its collapsed condition.

Device for locking pivotally mounted corner posts of loading platforms

A mounting for a tank receptacle in a lattice-shaped, stackable, cage-like supporting framework surrounding the receptacle. The receptacle is supported in the framework at three points in the case of a supporting framework which is not torsionally rigid relative to the receptacle. Where the receptacle is supported at four points in the framework, two support points are defined by hinges connected to each other through equalizing connecting rods. A strap connects the receptacle to the framework at each support point, a lever being located between each hinge and its respective strap. Spring-loaded buffers limit the movement of the levers.

Mounting for a tank receptacle in a supporting framework

A device for locking together two stacked objects, each having a plate with an opening, the plates being in superposed relation and the openings being in registry. The device includes a housing, the top wall of which is the plate of the lower object. A bolt, movable vertically and rotatably within the housing, having a head piece shaped to pass through the plate openings when the bolt is in a first angular orientation but not when the bolt is in a second angular orientation. A structural unit, movable vertically with the bolt and rotatable with respect to it, has a supporting shoulder which does not engage a support surface in the housing when the unit is in a first angular orientation but does engage the surface when the bolt is in a second angular orientation. A pair of levers are used to simultaneously raise the bolt and structural unit so that the bolt head piece passes through the plate opening; with one lever the structural unit is then rotated so that its shoulder rests on the support surface in the housing, and with the other lever the bolt is rotated so that it does not pass through the registered openings in the plates. A pawl prevents accidental rotation of the levers in a direction which would unlock the objects.

Device for locking together stacked objects

A shipping container comprises a container body which has a top, bottom and side walls with at least one of the side walls of the container having upper and lower longitudinally extending hollow chords. Each of the chords have top and bottom openings and interior baffles arranged to slope downwardly toward the openings for the removal of water and dirt entrained with air moving therethrough. The bottom wall of the container has a substantially U-shaped longitudinally extending beam which is located intermediate the length of the bottom wall and opens downwardly and has a top with at least one aperture therethrough and spaced upon said walls. A plurality of baffles are exposed in the beam and extend from a side wall downwardly toward the opposite side wall but terminate at spaced locations from the wall so that there is a downward opening therebetween.

Shipping container construction

A side wall construction for a container for shipping goods includes upper and lower hollow tubular chords which are interconnected by a side wall portion. Each chord is of substantially rectangular configuration and includes a lower downwardly sloping wall with a bottom opening directly adjacent the downwardly sloping wall in the adjacent wall and with a top opening vertically offset and diagonally opposite the lower opening. The interior of each chord is provided with a plurality of downwardly inclined and oppositely directed sheet metal deflectors. The deflectors advantageously extend inwardly from respective opposite walls and the clearance between the end of the deflector with the adjacent opposite wall is smaller than the cross-section of the openings in the chords.
