A separator device (3) provided with a cyclone chamber (11, 79) for separating solid and/or liquid particles from a gas flow. The cyclone chamber (11, 79) has an upper wall (49) in which an outlet opening (15) is present, and a substantially rotationally symmetrical side wall (47, 81) in which an inlet opening (13) is present adjacent the upper wall (49). A discharge opening (17, 85) for the separated solid and/or liquid particles is present at a side (55, 83) of the cyclone chamber (11, 79) remote from the upper wall (49). According to the invention, a rotatable annular centrifugal unit (61, 87) is arranged in the cyclone chamber (11, 79) around the outlet opening (15) near the upper wall (49), by means of which unit a short-circuit flow running directly from the inlet opening (13) to the outlet opening (15) in the cyclone chamber (11, 79) is prevented. The efficiency of the separator device (3) is considerably improved thereby. In a first embodiment, the centrifugal unit (61) comprises a rotatable annular disc (65) positioned adjacent and parallel to the upper wall (49). In a second embodiment, the centrifugal unit (87) comprises a rotatable rim of blades (89) which is partly countersunk into a recess (95) in the upper wall (49). A shaving apparatus is provided comprising a foil having hair entrance apertures and a shaving member which can be driven with respect to the foil, which apparatus comprises a foil holder having supporting parts corresponding to the shape of the foil. The foil holder comprises at least one adjustable connection member for the foil.

Shaving apparatus

A dry-shaving apparatus comprises a housing; a longitudinally extending shear plate; a holder for the shear plate, the holder being removable from the housing; and a longitudinally extending cutter rotatable relative to the shear plate. The cutter includes a carrier having cutting elements movable in a substantially radial direction relative to the carrier. Each cutting element has a cutting edge at its radial end, such radial ends being in contact with the shear plate during only a part of a revolution of the cutter and being clear of other parts of the apparatus during another part of the cutter revolution. A guide wall provided on the housing adjoins the shear plate, the radial ends of the cutting elements also being in contact during a further part of the cutter revolution with such guide wall.

Dry-shaving apparatus

A dry-shaving apparatus comprising a housing supporting a cutter for rotation is provided in which the cutting elements of a rotatable cutter follow a constrained path defined by the shear plate and, when the elements are clear of the shear plate, follow a free path in the form of a first circular arc as part of a revolution during rotation of the cutter. The shear plate includes peripheral portions wherein the first peripheral portion is proximate to the point where the free path changes into the constrained path and the second peripheral portion is proximate to the point where the constrained path changes into the free path, the peripheral portions adjoining the housing and a central portion which in a sectional view transverse to the axis of rotation to the cutter is curved in conformity with a second circular arc which is concentric with the first circular arc and in which the centers of the two circular arcs coincide but in which the radius of the second circular arc is smaller than the radius of the first circular arc. To avoid collision, undesired vibrations and damage to parts during the change from the free path to the constrained path, the shear plate also comprises a curved transition portion adjoining the first peripheral portion and the central portion which is given a curved shape with a radius of curvature larger than the radius of curvature of the central portion.

The disclosure relates to a shaving apparatus having a shear plate with hair entry apertures and a drivable cutting unit with at least one cutting element provided with a cutting edge. Owing to the presence of the shear plate a shaving apparatus of this type does not allow the hairs to be shaved as closely to the skin as a shaving apparatus without such a shear plate, where the cutting element is in direct contact with the skin. In order to eliminate this drawback a construction is proposed in which the cutting element is provided with a hair pulling element which leads in the direction of the driving and which is immobile relative to the cutting element.
