A control system for a stadium lighting system comprising a plurality of luminaires installed within the stadium to illuminate a pitch within the stadium in accordance with a light plan containing aiming information for each luminaire is disclosed. The control system comprises a data storage device storing the light plan and a controller communicatively coupled to the data storage device, the controller being responsive to object tracking information for an object travelling across the pitch. The controller is adapted to determine a direction of travel of the object from the object tracking information; evaluate the aiming information for each luminaire to identify if at least one luminaire is arranged to generate a luminous output in an aiming direction coinciding with said direction of travel; and generate a dimming level adjustment signal for the at least one identified luminaire to reduce the intensity of said luminous output. A stadium lighting system including such a control system, a method of controlling such a stadium lighting system and a computer program product for implement such a method are also disclosed.

Pitch illumination

For automated commissioning for automatic grid mapping, load devices comprising a load and detection devices have the detection devices () communicate with management devices () and comprise detectors () for detecting switchings of loads (), timers () for determining and storing timings of the switchings of the loads () and transmitters () for transmitting information to the management devices (). This information defines the timings of the switchings of the loads () as well as identifications of the detection devices (), of the loads (), and/or of load devices (-) comprising the detection devices () and the loads (). The timings of the switchings of the loads () may define moments in time. By switching different groups of loads () at different moments in time, the different groups can be distinguished from each other. The management devices () comprise receivers () configured to receive the information from the detection devices () and may further comprise controllers () for controlling the switchings of the loads () to take place at different moments in time.

Automatic grid mapping through timing

Methods of controlling an apparatus based on analysis of an input power waveform supplied to the apparatus. The methods may comprise demodulating a plurality of incoming data packets from the input power waveform. The methods may comprise determining whether N data packets of said plurality of incoming data packets are the same, wherein N is a positive integer having a dynamic value that depends on the input power waveform. The methods may comprise controlling at least one aspect of the apparatus based on said N data packets if said N data packets were determined to be the same. Also disclosed are apparatus corresponding to such methods.

Communication via a power waveform

A method of configuring a plurality of installed lighting units () comprises determining that a first installed lighting unit () should remain a member of a first logical group, and that a second installed lighting unit () should switch to a second logical group. The method further comprises interrupting a supply of electric power to the first installed lighting unit (), e.g. via a suitable an interrupter (), whereby the first installed lighting unit () is incapable of receiving a command from a controller of at least the first and second installed lighting units. The method further comprises broadcasting, from the controller, to at least the first and second installed lighting units (), a command arranged to cause any suitable lighting unit () which receives it to join the second logical group, thereby causing the second installed lighting unit () to switch to the second logical group. The method further comprises resuming the supply of electric power to the first installed lighting unit () whereby it becomes operable to receive and react to commands from the controller.

Grouping lighting units

A light system interface for controlling an arena light system, the light system interface comprising: an input configured to receive a first protocol message, the first protocol message being configured to define at least one control parameter associated with an emulated light source, the at least one control parameter designed to produce an emulated visual effect when performed on the emulated light source; a protocol message generator configured to generate at least one second protocol message based on the first protocol message and a mapping between the emulated light source and at least two arena light system light sources including knowledge on the arena light system light sources with respect to location and direction, the at least one second protocol message being configured to define control parameters associated with the arena light system light sources; and an output configured to output the second protocol message to the network of arena light system light sources, such that the control parameters associated with the arena light system light sources are configured to enable the performance by the network of arena light system light sources of the emulated visual effect.

A commissioning system () for a lighting system, the lighting system comprising a plurality of controllers (), each controller () adapted to control a set of lighting units () spatially clustered as a group and controlled using a set of control outputs, wherein each control output is for controlling one or more lighting units of the set, the commissioning system comprising: an identification unit () for identifying the set of lighting units connected to a controller () from the plurality of controllers; a commissioning controller () for controlling the identified set of lighting units via the controller (), wherein the commissioning controller is adapted to enable the controller () to: generate a control output signal for the set of lighting units to display a light output pattern; and for a lighting unit within the set, to generate a further control output signal, to change the light output pattern at the lighting unit to enable the lighting unit within the set to be visually identified; a commissioning unit () adapted to: receive as an input a position of the visually identified lighting unit within the set; and based on the position of the visually identified lighting unit within the set to assign a logical address to the visually identified lighting unit within the set.

Commissioning system for a lighting system

A controller comprising: a first holding location for storing or buffering two or more lighting control frames of a lighting control protocol, for transmission one-after-another in a temporal sequence over a lighting network in order to control at least one lighting device of the lighting network; and a second holding location for storing or buffering at least one status query of a device management protocol, for transmission over the lighting network in order to query a status of at least one lighting device of the lighting network. The controller further comprises an arbitrator configured to automatically detect when one of the lighting control frames is redundant with respect to another of the lighting control frames within a predetermined number of said frames in said sequence, and in response to automatically cause the status query to be transmitted in place of the redundant lighting control frame in said sequence.

Lighting control and status queries

A controller provides amplitude modulated power line coding of an output voltage waveform. A transformer has a first winding connected in series with the output. An input mains voltage supply and/or the output voltage are monitored, and the second winding of the transformer is configured in dependence on the monitored mains voltage supply, the monitored output voltage and a target output voltage. This target comprises a voltage which encodes a binary bit of digital information. This provides a feedback approach which enables the transformer to be used to provide an accurate modulation of the binary bit to be encoded.

Controller for power line coding and power line coding method

Methods and apparatus for controlling a lighting fixture utilizing a communication protocol transmitted over the power line that feeds the lighting fixture. Data may be transmitted to a plurality of lighting fixtures () via altering the output voltage transmitted to the lighting fixture through switching of a transformer () connected to the output voltage. Data may be received at a lighting fixture () via receiving an encoded output voltage and comparing the voltage level of a plurality of sine cycle periods of the output voltage to determine an incoming data packet. One or more aspects of the lighting fixture () may be controlled based on the received data.

Methods and apparatus for controlling a lighting fixture utilizing a communication protocol

A lighting system and a corresponding method are provided. The method comprises: sending a change operational state command to a lighting device group () comprising several lighting devices (); at each lighting device, applying a randomized delay within a predetermined delay interval or an individual predetermined delay within the delay interval; changing the operational state in accordance with the change operational state command at each lighting device at the end of each respective delay; detecting changes in the total drive power fed to the group of lighting devices within the delay interval and counting the total number of changes; comparing the total number of changes with a nominal number corresponding with the number of lighting devices within the group of lighting devices; generating a lighting device error signal if the number of changes is smaller than a predetermined fraction of the nominal number, including the nominal number.

Method of controlling a lighting system and a lighting system

Methods and apparatus related to controlling an apparatus such as a lighting fixture utilizing a communication protocol transmitted over the power line that feeds the lighting fixture. For example, in some embodiments data is transmitted over a three-phase power system via switching of a transformer electrically coupled to the three-phase power system. Optionally, a single transformer may be utilized to transmit data to at least on apparatus coupled to a first phase line of a three-phase power system and to at least one apparatus coupled to a second phase line of the three-phase power system.

Methods and apparatus for communication over a three-phase power system utilizing a communication protocol

An imaging modality, in particular a mobile CT system, comprises an imaging system for imaging an object to be examined. The imaging modality is also provided with an image guided surgery system which includes a position measuring system for measuring positions within the object and a data processor for deriving a transformation between positions within the object and the corresponding positions in the image. The position measuring device is also arranged to measure the position of the imaging system and the data processor is arranged to derive the transformation from the position and/or orientation of the imaging system. The position measuring system is notably an optical position measuring system which is arranged to measure the position of the gantry of the CT system. The data processor is arranged to derive the transformation from the measured position of the gantry. A highly accurate result is obtained when a calibration is carried out which links the position of the CT gantry to the position of the scanning plane.
