A light emitting diode (LED) display panel is provided. The LED display panel includes a printed circuit board (PCB), a flexible substrate disposed on the PCB, and a pixel array. The flexible substrate has a plurality of holes. The pixel array is formed by a first matrix circuit disposed on the flexible substrate, a second matrix circuit disposed on the PCB, and a plurality of LEDs disposed on the PCB, collectively defining a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels comprises a corresponding one of the LEDs and pixel circuits formed by the first matrix circuit and the second matrix circuit. A projection of each of the LEDs correspondingly overlaps with a projection of one of the holes on the flexible substrate along an extending direction of the holes. A mosaic LED display panel may be formed by multiple LED display panel butted or tiled together.

An artificial window is provided. The artificial window includes a window having a frame, and a display device disposed at a back side of the window. The display device is used to display images. An image capturing device may be disposed on the window to obtain a viewer image of a viewer. Thus, a viewing direction of the viewer may be determined based on the viewer image, and the images being displayed on the display device may be changed based on the location of the viewer. The display device may be a curved display device, which is wider than the frame. Alternatively, the display device may be a flat display device, and a lenticular array formed by lenticular lenses is disposed between the window and the flat display device. Each of the lenticular lenses is focused on or close to a display surface of the flat display device.

A polarizer component has an optical film to receive excitation light, a light re-emitting layer and a polarizing layer. The light re-emitting layer has quantum dots that re-emit red light and quantum dots that re-emit green light in response to the excitation light. The re-emitted red light is provided to a red sub-pixel to be filtered by a red color filter, and the re-emitting green light is provided to a green sub-pixel to be filtered by a green color filter. The excitation light can be blue or ultra violet and part of the excitation light is provided to a blue sub-pixel. The polarizing layer can be a reflective polarizing layer and the optical film can be a wavelength selecting layer. The light re-emitting layer may contain scattering particles to diffuse the excitation light provided to a blue sub-pixel.

Quantum-dot embedded polarizer component and display device using same

A display cell structure includes a first substrate and a second substrate spaced apart from each other, and a polarizer layer disposed between the two substrates, forming a first cell gaps between the first substrate and the polarizer layer, and a second cell gap between the second substrate and the polarizer layer. A first display structure is disposed in the first cell gap, and a second display structure is disposed in the second cell gap. The first display structure includes a plurality of first signal lines, forming a first signal line pattern. The second display structure includes a plurality of second signal lines, forming a second signal line pattern. The second signal line is different from the first signal line pattern. The polarizer layer may be a wire grid polarizer layer.

A liquid crystal display (LCD) panel includes two substrates and one or more pixel arrays disposed therebetween. The one or more pixel arrays define a pixel matrix having a plurality of pixels. For each of the pixels, the one or more pixel arrays form a mirrored pixel circuit structure including a first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode opposite to each other. The first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode in each of the pixels are independently controlled. A quantity of gray levels displayed by each of the pixels of the LCD panel is M, the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode in each of the pixels are provided with a voltage switchable between N analog levels, M and N are integers, and N=2&#xd7;&#x221a;{square root over (M)}.

A display cell structure includes a first liquid crystal display (LCD) panel and a second LCD panel. The first LCD panel includes a first polarizer layer, a second polarizer layer and a first liquid crystal layer, and liquid crystal molecules in the first liquid crystal layer have a first liquid crystal retardation. The second LCD panel includes a third polarizer layer, a fourth polarizer layer and a second liquid crystal layer, and liquid crystal molecules in the second liquid crystal layer have a second liquid crystal retardation. In some cases, the second liquid crystal retardation is different from the first liquid crystal retardation. In some cases, the third polarizer layer is a carbon nano-tube polarizer layer.

A representative display system includes: a pixel array having a plurality of pixels, a plurality of select lines, and a plurality of data lines; a first of the plurality of pixels having a first metal-insulator-metal (MIM) diode, a second MIM diode, a first storage capacitor, and a first light emitting diode (LED), the first MIM diode and the second MIM diode being electrically coupled in series between a first of the plurality of select lines and a second of the plurality of select lines, the first storage capacitor and the first LED being electrically coupled, in parallel, between a first of the plurality of data lines and between the first MIM diode and the second MIM diode; wherein the first LED is selectively controllable to emit light in response to corresponding select signals simultaneously provided on the first of the plurality of select lines and the second of the plurality of select lines and in response to data signals on the data lines.

Display systems and methods involving MIM diodes

A liquid crystal display device is formed from a first display panel and a second display panel in a stack configuration. Each of the first display panel and the second display panel has a TFT substrate. A signal circuit is disposed on the TFT substrate of the first display panel to provide data signals and timing signals. A signal connector is used to covey the data signals and timing signals from the first display panel to the second display panel. Each of the first display panel and the second display panel has a plurality of gate lines, including a first gate line and a last gate line. In the stacked configuration, the last gate line of the first display panel and last gate line of the second display panel are adjacent to the signal connector.

LCD display device

A pixel structure in a pixel for used in a display panel has a plurality of grooves made on a substrate and a plurality of conducting lines formed in the grooves. The conducting line can be made from a silver or copper conductive ink to provide a low-resistance line served as a gate line, common line or source line. In a pixel having a storage capacitor and a TFT with a gate electrode, a source electrode and a drain electrode, the gate electrode is connected to a gate line and a source electrode and one of the capacitor electrodes in the storage capacitor is connected to a common line. At least part of one or more of the gate electrode and the source electrode is disposed on top of and in contact with the surface of one or more conducting lines.

TFT array having conducting lines with low resistance

A pixel structure for use in a display panel includes a switching element and a storage capacitor. The switching element has a drain electrode and a source electrode disposed on a high-k dielectric layer with k being equal to or higher than 8. The storage capacitor has a first capacitor electrode, a second capacitor electrode and a third capacitor electrode, wherein a passivation layer is disposed between the second an third capacitor electrodes and the high-k dielectric layer is also disposed between the first and second capacitor electrodes. The pixel structure also has a common line connected to the first capacitor electrode, a source line, and a gate line arranged such that the source line, the gate line and the common line may cross over each other over a low-k dielectric layer at a cross-over area where k is equal to or lower than 5.

TFT array for use in a high-resolution display panel and method for making same

A pixel structure for a liquid crystal display (LCD) device with multiple domain vertical alignment, including multiple pixels having liquid crystal molecules with a negative dielectric constant anisotropy. For each pixel, the pixel electrode and the common electrode are each divided into at least N corresponding domains, and each domain is formed by a directional nanowire grid polarizer (NWGP). The directional NWGP of each domain of the pixel electrode has a first planar direction. The directional NWGP of each domain of the common electrode has a second planar direction substantially perpendicular to the first planar direction of the corresponding domain of the pixel electrode. When the pixel is driven by a voltage difference, the directional NWGPs function as polarizers, such that an orientation of the liquid crystal molecules between the NWGPs is about (360/N) degrees from each of the first and second planar directions.
