A soft-kill countermeasure system utilizing a confirmation device, which may be radar, to enhance existing countermeasures, and enable new countermeasures to be utilized to combat the ever evolving and increasing sophistication of threats. The threat defeat confirmation may allow for rapid or immediate redirection of the countermeasure system to address additional simultaneous threats. The confirmation device can be mounted on a gimbal head or above a gimbal to take advantage of slewing movement to direct the confirmation signal towards the threat.

Countermeasure system having a confirmation device and method thereof

A lens assembly for a weapon sight includes a first lens having an optical axis and a focal plane array (FPA) coaxial with the optical axis of the first lens. A first parameter of the first lens is selected that minimizes an error in image shift when the weapon sight lens assembly is adjusted for focus. The first parameter of the first lens can be at least one of a lateral position, axial displacement, thickness, effective focal length, material, effective focal length, radius of curvature, conic constants, and higher order aspheric coefficients of the first lens. A sensor can detect a position of the lens and a processor can compare the measured position to an ideal position and use a lookup table to display a corrected reticle position or corrected scene. An actuator may move the lens to the ideal position from the measured position.

The present disclosure is a system comprising at least three electronically steered antennas arranged so that there is a baseline difference of a predetermined amount of wavelength between the centers of the antennas, typically configured as an obtuse or scalene triangle, where the distance between each antenna on an array is selected to provide the required accuracy and precision, the array having a timing circuit to ensure that the beam of each antenna is steered to the same azimuthal and elevation coordinates in space simultaneously. This enables the three electronically steered antennas to operate as an interferometer to determine a bearing to a target to ultimately determine the location thereof. The electronically steered antennas enable the system to be mounted on a platform in a small package that was previously difficult for traditional interferometers.

Methods for enhanced soft-kill countermeasure using a tracking radar

A laser warning receiver system and method having at least four optical components mapped to a photodetector array to provide for omnidirectional detection of incident laser light. In some cases, a fifth optical component is mapped to the central portion of a photodetector array to provide hemispheric detection of laser light. The laser warning receiver system is configured to detect laser light in the NIR, SWIR, MWIR, and/or LWIR range using a single photodetector array and ROIC.

Techniques are provided for detection, classification and tracking of surface contacts based on multispectral image data from sensors on maritime assets. An example system may include an anomaly detection circuit configured to detect an object based on anomalies in the variance of pixels of water surface image data. The system may also include an object motion tracking circuit configured to analyze motion of the object relative to water surface waves. The analysis may compensate for motion of the asset and sensors. The system may further include an object classification circuit configured to classify the object as an object of interest, based on the analyzed motion of the object, and as a threat, further based on size estimation, edge detection, surface texture analysis, and volume analysis. The range from the asset to the object may be estimated based on the relation of the object to a detected or estimated horizon line.

Detection, classification, and tracking of surface contacts for maritime assets

Techniques are provided for estimating the direction of a laser source under non-uniform illumination conditions such as laser speckle. An example system may include a detector array comprising sensors configured to detect the amplitude of the received laser signal. The sensors are disposed on the array at unique orientation angles relative to each other. The sensor size is selected based on the speckle pattern of the laser signal such that the sensors are small enough to be uniformly illuminated by the laser signal in the presence of speckle. The system also includes an amplitude ratio calculation circuit configured to calculate ratios of the amplitudes between each of two sensors of one or more pairs of sensors. The system further includes an angle of arrival calculation circuit configured to estimate the direction of the source of the laser signal based on the calculated ratios and the orientation angles of the sensors.
