Disclosed is a tool having an axial passage, a top and a bottom, and a sidewall portion possessing porosity and permeability properties and constructed of a material having equal or better erosion properties than any substances produced and/or injected into any earth formation, said tool functioning as a filter to permit solids to pass or not pass depending upon their size, characterized in that the porosity and permeability can be programmed to any given value radially and longitudinally, said tool further including a means for circulating from outside, inward or from the inside outward to enable cleaning, wherein optionally said tool can be used in multiples.

Downhole electric power generator

In a wellbore system, non-return valves placed in one or more well boreholes within the system. The valves are placed in the production string downstream from the producing zones, the valve having a closure member selectively biased to a closed position against flow from the producing zones. A fluid backpressure in the production string further operates to bias the valve to the dosed position. When the fluid backpressure is reduced, the force exerted by the flow from the producing zone against the closure member is sufficient to move the closure member in its open position. The closure member is maintained in its open position as a result of the force exerted by the flow from the production zone. An increase in fluid backpressure on the valve results in the movement of the closure member from the open position to the closed position.

Wellbore system having non-return valve

A device is provided for manipulating a tool in a well tubular. The device includes a cylindrical housing having a front end and a rear end, and radially extendible dogs for securing the device in the well tubular. A shaft is also included that is axially displaceable and rotatable from the front end of the device. The shaft is extendable from a displaceable sleeve, the displaceable sleeve also being extendable from the front end of the device. The outwardly extending end parts of the shaft and of the sleeve are provided with is effective for holding a tool.

Device for manipulating a tool in a well tubular

A method for detecting a leak in a well tubular of a well for production of hydrocarbon fluid from a formation is disclosed. The method includes steps of: passing a sonic tool provided with a transducer package capable of sending and receiving a sonic signal through the well tubular; prior to starting production to obtain an initial registration of a reflected signal for a well that does not have a leak; obtaining at least one subsequent registrations of reflected signals; comparing the initial registration to a subsequent registration and determining from the differences between the two if a leak has developed in the well tuburtar.

Leak detection method

A wellbore system is provided, the wellbore including a main wellbore extending into an earth formation, a branch wellbore extending from a selected location of the main wellbore into the earth formation and a casing arranged in the main wellbore. A branching device is arranged in the casing and connected to a conduit extending through the casing to a wellbore facility at surface, the branching device having a main bore in fluid communication with the wellbore facility via the conduit, and a branch bore providing fluid communication between the main bore and the branch wellbore via a window opening provided in the casing. A seal is provided between said body and the inner surface of the casing so as to prevent fluid communication between the window opening and the interior of the casing.

Multilateral wellbore system

Following fracturing operations in a first zone of a well bore traversing an earth formation, a sealing assembly is lowered into the well bore to isolate the first zone from the remainder of the wellbore. The sealing assembly includes a reaction plate that rests on gravel within the borehole, a support strut having one end attached to the reaction plate with an elastomeric sealing member attached to the other end of the strut. The strut provides support for the sealing member and prevents it from being dislodged during subsequent fracturing operations. The sealing assembly is lowered downhole utilizing a mechanical running tool capable of running and retrieving the sealing assembly. A second zone in the well bore may then be subjected to fracturing operations without affecting the fractures in the first zone. A second sealing assembly, similar to the first sealing assembly, less reaction plate, may then be lowered by a running tool and attached to the top of the first sealing assembly to isolate the second zone. The fracturing/isolation process may be repeated to create and isolate multiple facture zones.

Method and apparatus for creation and isolation of multiple fracture zones in an earth formation

A method for improving the permeability of an earth formation zone surrounding a wellbore formed in the earth formation utilizing hydraulic shockwaves. The selected zone is isolated and fluid is pumped downhole to fracture the earth formation, the fluid extending into the fractures. A shock wave is then created in the fracturing fluid to reduce the presence of illite clays in the formation interstices.

Method and apparatus for improving the permeability in an earth formation utilizing shock waves

A device for expanding a pipe comprising a bi-conical sleeve having a first section and a second section, which sections are provided with at least two longitudinal guide channels, first wedges, wherein each first wedge tapers into the direction in which the first section widens and is provided with a support element that co-operates with the corresponding longitudinal guide channel of the first section, second wedges, wherein each second wedge tapers into the direction in which the second section widens and is provided with a support element that co-operates with the corresponding longitudinal guide channel of the second section, and means for moving the wedges into each other.

Pipe expansion device

A lock assembly for locking an outer tubular element to an inner tubular element extending through the outer tubular element for holding loads between the tubular member when lowered downhole. The assembly includes a lock mandrel connected to one of the tubular elements and the other tubular element having a recess with at least one inwardly converging side surface. A lock member, having a retracted and an expanded mode, is arranged between the first and second tubular elements. The lock member is movable relative to the recess in the retracted mode and locks against the inwardly diverging side surface when in the expanded mode.
