The electric lamp has a lamp cap (6) with a contact member (9) at the base portion (8), a current supply conductor (4, 5) being passed to the exterior through said contact member. The current supply conductor (4, 5) is welded to said contact member (9) by a separately supplied solidified drop of essentially copper, nickel, copper/nickel, chromium/nickel/iron or aluminium containing 1-10% by weight of a metal addition.

Plasma-MIG welding wherein a plasma arc is initially established between a non-consumable electrode and a workpiece to initate and sustain a non-deviated plasma flow therebetween, welding wire is supplied along a path generally parallel to but laterally displaced from the plasma flow path, and a MIG arc is thereafter struck between the welding wire and the workpiece, whereby theplasma flow is laterally displaced by and drawn to the MIG arc to substantially concentrically surround the same.

Method of and device for plasma MIG-welding

A plasma-MIG welding system includes establishing a plasma arc between a primary non-consumable electrode and an auxiliary non-consumable nozzle electrode to provide a plasma flow downstream of the primary non-consumable electrode and out through such nozzle electrode. A consumable electrode is fed through the plasma flow out through the nozzle electrode, a MIG-arc being established between the consumable electrode and a workpiece. A gas stream consisting of an inert gas and an oxidizing gas is flowed past the consumable electrode in a manner to completely envelope the same and into admixture with the plasma flow without coming into contact with the non-consumable electrode. A separate gas stream provides a sheath for the resulting plasma flow after its passage through the nozzle electrode.

A method of plasma MIG welding in which an arc is maintained between a workpiece and a welding wire in a thermally ionized gas (auxiliary plasma) which is generated by an electric gas-discharge between two non-consumable electrodes; neither the welding wire nor the workpiece acts as a single electrode for generating the thermally ionized gas.

Plasma MIG welding in which a plasma flow is generated between a non-consumable electrode and a workpiece, and a consumable electrode is fed through such plasma flow toward the workpiece to establish a MIG arc between the same. The current intensity in the plasma flow is increased by applying additional current thereto from an annular auxiliary non-consumable electrode surrounding the plasma flow and positioned between the primary non-consumable electrode and the workpiece.

A device for plasma-MIG welding comprising a welding torch provided with a non-consumable electrode and a supply of a welding wire, the non-consumable electrode being connected to a first power supply source having a drooping voltage characteristic and the welding wire being connected to a second power supply source having a constant voltage characteristic, the first power supply source being connected in series with the second power supply source, thereby improving the stability of the plasma arc.

Method of arc welding in which an electric arc is maintained between a welding wire and a workpiece in a thermally ionized gas which is produced by an electric arc maintained between the workpiece and the inner surface of a nozzle which acts as a non-consumable electrode as a substitute for a separate tungsten electrode.
