A pneumatically operated press, particularly for pressing grapes, has a cylindrical drum which is rotatable about a horizontal axis. An internal membrane separates the drum into a pressing space in which the groups are pressed and an air space to which compressed air is introduced. A side wall of the drum defining the pressing space is perforated for passing the juice from the space and an opening in this side wall admits the grapes before and after pressing. The drum is cylindrical with the perforated side wall comprising half the drum surface and presenting a smooth surface to the membrane. The membrane is connected to the drum at opposite sides of its axis by connecting strips.

Pneumatically operated press

A quick release coupling for connecting a driven shaft having a universal type joint at one end thereof, with a drive shaft, includes a coupling box surrounding the drive shaft and a coupling sleeve carried at the end of the driven shaft for axially receiving an end of the drive shaft. An annular groove is located on the drive shaft and a ball-catch mechanism is carried by the coupling sleeve for snap acting cooperative engagement with the annular groove to produce a positive form fitting engagement between the drive shaft and the coupling sleeve. A locking ring is carried for movement on the coupling sleeve between a release position and a locking position for locking the ball-catch mechanism into engagement with the groove. A spring is used to bias the locking ring into the locking position. Means are provided for engaging the locking ring to hold it in the release position during insertion and removal of the drive shaft into and out of the coupling sleeve. A release lever is pivotally mounted on the coupling box for engaging the locking ring to move it into a release position allowing the ball-catch mechanism to be released from the annular groove so that the shafts may be easily disconnected.

Quick release coupling for connection between shafts

A coupling device for making a driving connection between a tractor power take-off shaft and a transmission shaft on an implement towed by the tractor has a coupling hub drivingly mounted on the power take-off shaft and a coupling drum coaxially surrounding the coupling hub and substantially fixed with respect to the tractor. A coupling sleeve on a power transmission shaft is detachably connected to the coupling hub by a quick-release fastener means which includes a spring-biased locking ring. A release lever is pivotally mounted on a fixed pivot on the drum and an actuating lever is pivotally connected to the release lever spaced from the fixed pivot. Pivotal movement of the actuating lever will pivot the release lever about its fixed pivot so that the release lever engages the locking ring to release the fastener means and thereby disengaging the sleeve from the hub. Further pivotal movement of the actuating lever causes the actuating lever to pivot about a stop on the drum such that the actuating lever engages a stop on the sleeve to push the disengaged sleeve from the hub.

Releasable coupling device for a power transmission shaft

A hydraulically operated variable length top guide coupling member for use in three point linkage couplings for attaching agricultural implements to farm tractors includes a cylinder and a main piston with piston rod carried for longitudinal movement within the cylinder to thereby vary the length of the coupling member. Articulation means are carried at one end of the cylinder and at the other end of the piston rod for connecting the coupling member between a tractor and an agricultural implement. A pair of hydraulic lines provide communication between a source of hydraulic fluid and cylinder spaces on opposite sides of the main piston. A one-way valve is located in the path of communication between each of the hydraulic lines and the respective cylinder spaces. A control piston is carried between the two one-way valves for controlling opening of the valves. Application of hydraulic pressure to one of the hydraulic lines will open its respective one-way valve to permit hydraulic fluid to flow into the cylinder space on one or the other side of the main piston. Hydraulic pressure also acts on the control piston causing it to open the other one-way valve and permit hydraulic fluid to flow out of the other cylinder space into the other hydraulic line. Hydraulic pressure acting on the main piston will thus cause it to move within the cylinder to vary the length of the coupling member. The capability for immobilizing the main piston within the cylinder to fix the length of the coupling member to a desired position is also provided.

Hydraulically operated variable length top guide coupling member

A three point linkage for attaching a working machine to a vehicle includes two lower guide members, a substantially U-shaped coupling frame pivotally connected at its ends with the lower guide members, and an upper guide member supported by tension springs from the U-shaped coupling frame. A length adjusting device is carried by the upper guide member for longitudinally varying its length. The upper guide member can be secured in various adjusted length positions. A link is connected between the coupling frame and the length adjusting device for actuating the adjusting device to vary the length of the upper guide member upon the application of pressure to the coupling frame. A catch hook for connection to the working machine is carried at one end of the upper guide member and the hook can be locked and unlocked by movement of the coupling frame.

Three point linkage

An adjustable length upper guide member for the hitch attachment of a tractor has an outer tubular guide element within which is telescopingly positioned an inner guide element so as to be relatively displaceable thereto. A housing on the outer guide element has a pair of jaws pivotally mounted therein and the jaws each have first arms which are engageable with annular grooves on the inner guide element and second arms which form actuating cams facing each other. A lever has an eccentric portion within the housing and one side of the eccentric portion is engageable against the housing and the other side of the eccentric portion engageable with the actuating cams so that pivoting of the lever causes the eccentric portion to act upon the cams and pivot the jaws to a disengaged position.

Adjustable length upper guide member

A coupling hook has a latch element extending from a pocket through a passage to block a coupling pin in the hook opening in the locked position. The latch element is arcuate and has opposed curvilinear surfaces one of which is engageable with a fulcrum in the vicinity of an opening in the pocket through which an actuating lever of the latch element extends. The other curvilinear surface is engageable with a fulcrum in the vicinity of the passage and has a notch engageable with a bolt in the pocket in the locked position of the latch element. The latch element may be displaced to a release position either by lifting and then pulling the actuating lever or by a coupling pin engaging the curved end of the latch element to urge the latch element to a released position.

Coupling hook for a three-point attachment of a tractor

A coupling device for making a driving connection between a power take-off shaft and a transmission shaft has a coupling hub mounted upon the power take-off shaft and a coupling drum which co-axially surrounds the coupling hub may be journalled upon the hub or attached to the tractor. A coupling sleeve on a power transmission shaft is detachably connected to the coupling hub by a quick release fastener means. The outer surface of the coupling drum has a pivot support upon which an actuating member is pivotally supported. The actuating member has one arm connected to the coupling sleeve and the other arm defines an operating lever such that pivoting of the operating lever will effect a relative axial movement of the coupling sleeve and the coupling hub.

Coupling device for a power transmission shaft

An agricultural machine has a longitudinal variable drive shaft enclosed by a tubular casing for coupling to a power take-off shaft of a tractor. The drive shaft and power take-off shaft can be aligned and coupled to each other. The agricultural machine is further provided with a hitch bar and a support device is mounted on the hitch bar comprising a strut pivoted on the hitch bar so as to fold upon the bar in its axial direction. The other end of the strut engages and supports the drive shaft and a guide member has one end pivotally connected to the tubular casing and the other end pivotally connected to the strut so as to be slidable therealong.

A coupling hook has a latch which is displaceable into the hook opening in its locked position to block a coupling pin received in a slot formed in a partially spherical member pivotally mounted in the opening. The latch is provided with a surface which engages a coacting surface on the partially spherical member to maintain the latch in its open position. When a coupling pin is received in the slot of the partially spherical member the member will be urged downwardly against a spring and the latch will be disengaged from the partially spherical member. A second spring then urges the latch into its locked position.

Coupling hook for a guide member of a three-point attachment of a tractor

A conical guide for mounting on a coupling pin of an implement or the like which can be coupled to a three-point connection of a tractor may comprise a semi-conical member or a complete conical member divided to form two semi-conical members. The single semi-conical member is positioned about the coupling pin and has a clamp also positioned about the coupling pin so that the clamp and semi-conical member completely enclose the pin and are secured against axial displacement on the coupling pin by radially inwardly directed projections received within a notch in the pin. With a full conical member one of the semi-conical guide members functions as a clamp.

A three-point connection on a tractor comprises an upper guide member and a pair of lower guide members and coupling hooks on each of the guide members. A pair of leaf springs are connected between the upper guide member or a traverse bar on the upper guide member and the lower guide member coupling hooks. The leaf springs are each curved in the direction in which it is desired that the leaf springs bend when forces are applied to the ends of the springs.

A three-point connection on a tractor is provided with a coupling hook for receiving a coupling bolt. The hook has a pivotally mounted locking element therein one arm of which lockingly receives the coupling bolt and the other end being pivotally connected to an actuating lever. When the actuating lever is moved to the unlocking position a portion of the lever pivots around a fulcrum within the pocket of the hook and the lever further pivots the locking element to unlock and eject the coupling bolt.

Coupling hook for a tractor three-point hitch

A tractor having a pair of parallel catch arms pivotally mounted on the rear portion of the tractor are engageable with a shield plate mounted on the implement or machine to be coupled to the tractor. The lower ends of the catch arms are pivotally mounted to a supporting bracket on the tractor and are rigidly connected by a catch plate. At least one retaining pawl is pivotally mounted on each catch arm and has a jaw opening engagable with a locking shaft. A locking element actuable by a safety linkage is pivotally mounted on the catch arm and has a curved locking surface extending eccentrically of its pivot mount for lockingly engaging the retaining pawl. The locking element is secured in position by a locking lever and the entire locking mechanism can be released only by actuation of the locking lever and the safety linkage.
