A vehicular sensing system includes a radar sensor disposed at a first vehicle and operable to sense objects within a field of sensing of the radar sensor. Responsive to a sensing system of a second vehicle detecting an object while the detected object is not within the field of sensing of the radar sensor of the first vehicle, the vehicular sensing system receives from the second vehicle one or more characteristics of the detected object while the detected object is not within the field of sensing of the radar sensor of the first vehicle. The vehicular sensing system, responsive to receiving the one or more characteristics of the detected object from the second vehicle, adjusts sensing by the radar sensor of the first vehicle based at least in part on the received one or more characteristics of the detected object.

Vehicular driving assist system using radar and communication with other vehicles

A vehicular sensing system includes a radar sensor including a radar module having a plurality of transmitters and a plurality of receivers. The radar module includes a plurality of facets, with each facet arranged at an obtuse angle relative to an adjacent facet and having a respective transmitter and a respective receiver disposed thereat. The respective transmitter and the respective receiver of each facet have a respective field of sensing and a respective principal sensing axis that is perpendicular to the respective facet. The vehicular sensing system, responsive to processing by the data processor of sensor data captured by the radar sensor, determines presence of a target object within a field of sensing of the radar sensor. Responsive to determining presence of the object, the vehicular sensing system controls a system of the vehicle based on the determined presence of the object.

Vehicular radar sensor with antenna that provides improved blind-spot detection

A vehicular vision system includes a front camera disposed at a windshield of a vehicle equipped with the system and a side camera disposed at a side mirror of the vehicle. An electronic control unit (ECU) includes an image processor for processing image data captured by the cameras. The vehicular vision system, responsive to processing by the image processor of image data captured by the front camera, detects a leading vehicle traveling in front of the equipped vehicle in a traffic lane the equipped vehicle is also traveling along. The vehicular vision system, responsive to determination of an intent of the equipped vehicle to change lanes and to processing by the image processor of image data captured by the side camera, detects an oncoming vehicle traveling in a traffic lane adjacent to the traffic lane the equipped vehicle is traveling along.

Vehicular driving assist system with collision avoidance

A vehicular radar sensing system includes a radar sensor disposed at a vehicle. The radar sensor includes a waveguide antenna and a printed circuit board (PCB) with an inboard side and an outboard side. A processor is disposed at the inboard side of the PCB and the waveguide antenna is disposed at the outboard side of the PCB. The waveguide antenna is partially disposed within a cavity at the outboard side of the PCB. Radio frequency signals are electrically communicated between the processor and the waveguide antenna through only a portion of the PCB. The waveguide antenna (i) guides the transmitted radio signals from the transmitter to the exterior environment and (ii) guides reflected radio signals from the exterior environment to the receiver.

A vehicular radar sensing system includes a radar sensor disposed at a vehicle so as to sense exterior of the vehicle and having at least one transmitter that transmits radio signals and at least one receiver that receives radio signals. The radar sensor includes a transmitting wave guide antenna and a receiving wave guide antenna, a PCB, and a processor operable to process radio signals transmitted by the at least one transmitter and received by the at least one receiver. Each of the wave guide elements includes a respective wave guide slot disposed at the inboard side of the PCB, and another respective wave guide slot that guides the radio signals to or from the environment, and a respective air wave guide that guides the radio signals between the respective wave guide slots.

A vehicular radar sensing system includes a radar sensor disposed at a vehicle so as to sense exterior of the vehicle, and a control. The radar sensor includes a plurality of transmitters that transmit radio signals, and a plurality of receivers that receive radio signals. The transmitters transmit first radio signals at a first frequency and second radio signals at a second frequency, with the second frequency different from the first frequency. First radio signals received are transmitted first radio signals from the plurality of transmitters that are reflected from an object exterior the vehicle. The control, via processing of the received first radio signals, determines presence of an object exterior of the vehicle. The transmitters transmit second radio signals at the second frequency for receiving at a remote communication device. Second radio signals received at the transmitter are second radio signals transmitted by the remote communication device.

A vehicular radar sensing system includes a radar sensor configured to be disposed at a vehicle. The radar sensor includes a plurality of antennas that include a plurality of transmitting antennas that transmit radio signals and a plurality of receiving antennas that receive radio signals. The radar sensor provides radar data to a processor that processes the provided radar data to detect an object present in the field of sensing of the radar sensor. At least some antennas of the plurality of antennas include waveguides having T-shaped slots, with each T-shaped slot having a longitudinal portion and a transverse portion that extends transverse from the longitudinal portion, and with a width of the transverse portion being less than a length of the longitudinal portion.

A sensing device for a vehicular sensing system includes a housing having a front housing portion and a metallic rear housing portion. A first printed circuit board and a second printed circuit board are disposed in the housing. The second printed circuit board is electrically connected to the first printed circuit board, which has an electrical connector for electrically connecting the sensing device to a vehicle wire harness. The second printed circuit board has circuitry thereat, with the circuitry generating heat when the sensing device is operating. The rear housing portion comprises a thermally conductive element that extends through an aperture of the first printed circuit board and is thermally coupled at the second printed circuit board. The thermally conductive element conducts heat generated by the circuitry of the second printed circuit board to the rear housing portion to dissipate the heat from the sensing device.

A vehicular radar sensing system includes a radar sensor disposed at a vehicle so as to sense exterior of the vehicle. The radar sensor includes a housing and at least one printed circuit board (PCB). The housing includes a front housing portion and a rear housing portion. The front housing portion includes side walls with a slot therealong. The PCB is received in the slot of the front housing portion. After the PCB is received in the slot, the front housing portion and the rear housing portion are joined to establish a cavity in which the PCB is disposed.

A vehicular radar sensing system includes a radar sensor disposed at a vehicle so as to sense exterior of the vehicle and having at least one transmitter that transmits radio signals and at least one receiver that receive radio signals. The radar sensor includes at least one wave guide antenna, a PCB, and a processor disposed on an inboard side of the PCB and operable to process radio signals received by the at least one receiver. The wave guide antenna includes a first wave guide slot disposed at the inboard side of the PCB that guides the radio signals to the at least one receiver or from the at least one transmitter, a second wave guide slot that guides the radio signals to and from the environment, and an air wave guide that guides the radio signals between the first wave guide slot and the second wave guide slot.

A radar sensing system for a vehicle includes a radar sensor disposed at the vehicle so as to sense exterior of the vehicle. The radar sensor includes a plurality of transmitters that transmit radio signals, and a plurality of receivers that receive radio signals, with the received radio signals being transmitted radio signals that are reflected from an object. A processor is operable to process outputs of the receivers. The radar sensor includes a printed circuit board having circuitry disposed thereat and at least one waveguide having an interface end in electrical contact with the printed circuit board. The at least one waveguide includes at least one notch at the interface end that reduces an area of electrical contact between the at least one waveguide and the printed circuit board and increases pressure at the electrical contact area.

A radar sensing system for a vehicle includes a radar sensor disposed at the vehicle so as to have a field of sensing exterior of the vehicle. The radar sensor includes a plurality of transmitters that transmit radio signals, a plurality of receivers that receive radio signals, and a plurality of antennas that communicate the radio signals to the receivers and from the transmitters. The received radio signals are transmitted radio signals that are reflected from an object. A processor is operable to process outputs of the receivers to detect the object. At least some of the antennas of the radar sensor include non-rectangular slot antennas each having a slot that includes a longitudinal portion and a transverse portion that extends transverse in at least one direction from the longitudinal portion. The non-rectangular slot provides an enhanced radiation pattern of the transmitted radio signals.

A vision system for a vehicle includes a camera configured to be disposed at a vehicle so as to have a field of view exterior of the vehicle. The camera includes a printed circuit board, a lens and a camera housing, with the printed circuit board disposed in the camera housing. The printed circuit board is attached at the housing via an electrically conductive fastener that passes through an aperture through the printed circuit board and that engages a connector portion of the housing. A head of the fastener electrically engages circuitry at the printed circuit board and an end of the fastener electrically conductively connects to an electrically conductive pin at the connector portion of the housing. The connector portion of the camera housing is configured to electrically connect to a connector of a vehicle wiring harness when the camera is disposed at the vehicle.

A vision system for a vehicle includes a camera, a power supply, a power filter and a microcontroller. The camera is configured to be disposed at a vehicle so as to have a field of view interior or exterior of the vehicle. The power supply is operable to supply a voltage for powering the camera. The power filter is in communication with the power supply and the camera and is operable to supply a voltage to the camera. The microcontroller is operable to measure a voltage level supplied to the power filter. Responsive to the determination that the measured voltage level is one of (i) a threshold amount above a nominal operating voltage of the camera and (ii) a threshold amount below the nominal operating voltage of the camera, the microcontroller adjusts the power supply to the camera.
