A safe-and-arm device with a series connection formed through a switch which is activated through triggering criteria and which is connected ahead of a detonator for a secondary explosive, especially for utilization with a submunition projectile. Hereby, a switching element of a first switch is arranged on a first carrier or support for the switching element which is slidable from its blocked secured or safe position through the intermediary of a power element which is initiated by a releasing criterium into armed position, and a switching element of a second switch is arranged on a support for this switching element which is coupled with the support of the first switching element and displaceable by the latter from its safe position across an interim position into its armed position in the presence of a further releasing criterium.

Safe-and-arm device

A rotating submunition member which, subsequent to ejection from a carrier, incorporates a target detection device projecting outwardly beyond the wall contour of the member in an operating position; and a fuze arrangement for a detonator which is disposed interiorly of the wall of the submunition. The submunition member is equipped with a securing or safe-and-arm device in which the detonator is located on a movable mounting or holder, which is displaceable through the intermediary of a spring-elastic power element from the SAFE position of the detonator into its ARMED position, when a flyweight has tensioned the power element and the target detection device is displaced into its operative position projecting beyond the wall contour of the submunition member.

Submunition member with laterally outwardly-movable target detection

An article of submunition including a fuze or detonating device which can be armed in dependence upon environmental conditions, and wherein the fuze is electrically actuatable from an accumulator or energy storage. The submunition is provided with an in-line detonating medium for the attacking or combat charge of the submunition, whose detonating-energy storage can be connected to an energy source through the interposition of an interrupter across a securing device (safety) which is arranged in a carrier for the submunition. Only a single central securing or safe device is required for all articles of submunitions which are deployable by means of one carrier; in effect, for all fuzes or trigger devices, and this single, central securing device can be arranged within the carrier itself.

Submunition incorporating a fuze

A safe and arm device including a sensor-controlled switch arrangement in an electrical series-circuit, which is arranged ahead of a secondary-explosive detonator, especially for a submunition-projectile. The safe and arm device possesses a first switch which is actuatable at the presence of a surrounding air onflow against the submunition carrier in dependence upon a submunition ejecting command; and wherein a second switch is actuatable by the first switch when the submunition-projectile has released itself from its carrier and has implemented a transition into a gliding flight phase searching for a target.

Safe and arm device for a secondary-explosive detonator

A detonator securing device for the combat charge of a projectile, including a detonator locking slide, and an impeller-generator movable along a slider guide transverse of the longitudinal axis of a projectile to a position outwardly of the wall thereof, the electrical energy of which generator serves for the release of a securing latch for the detonator locking slide.

Detonator securing device

A fuse or triggering device for a small bomb arranged in an artillery grenade, which includes a percussion fuse constituted of a striker and a detonator. The above-mentioned artillery grenade contains a plurality of small bombs arranged behind each other, which are ejected at a predetermined point in the trajectory of the artillery grenade. Each small bomb possesses an autonomous fuse. A slider containing the detonator is secured in a safety position, in that the slider lies against an outwardly pivotable securing lever which lies resiliently prestressed against the inner wall of a further small bomb, and in which the striker is fixed in position between the slider and a securing disc which is deformable in response to the firing acceleration of the artillery grenade.

Fuse for a small bomb

A detonator triggering device which is located in the head of an underwater projectile, and wherein a pressure receiver which is positioned within an opening in the projectile head is exposed to a dynamic pressure or velocity head. A piezo-ceramic disc which is equipped with electrical contacts is rigidly supported on one side thereof in the head of the projectile, and with its other side contacts against a pressure transmitting member which is supported within the opening in the head. As a result, the dynamic pressure will act against the piezo-ceramic disc. Every change in the dynamic pressure consequently provides for a corresponding change in the charge or change in the voltage of the piezo-ceramic disc. This permits itself to be processed in an electronic evaluating or gating circuit, such that the applicable voltage change is employed as the actuating criteria.

Detonator triggering device

An ignition or firing voltage generator adapted to be actuated only proximate the peak of an inertial force and, in its equilibrium position will not emit a voltage even when subjected to hard shocks. A piezoceramic cell, as well as a solid body which is arranged axially adjacent thereto, are located within a preferably cylindrical support member which is axially displaceably guided within a tubularly-shaped component of an igniter housing, but in the initial position thereof is so restrained through the utilization of a securing element in the configuration of a shear element, spring fastener or the like, that its base is located at a defined spacing opposite a base plate of the igniter or detonator housing. A securing element of that type, without difficulty, may be so dimensioned that it will only first release the support member, when it is influenced by approximately the maximum inertial force. The base of the support member facing towards the base plate of the igniter housing, and/or the base plate of the igniter housing facing towards the base of the support member, may be slightly cambered or curved. A short-circuiting bridge which, in the initial position of the voltage generator, connects the two voltage poles of the piezoceramic cell and, in response to the axial displacement of the support member, will rupture at a notched location, so that in the equilibrium position, voltages generated in the cell through shock or vibration cannot lead to a faulty or unintended powering of the igniter or detonator fuse.
