The invention relates to a process for the production of cellulosic fibers from solutions of cellulose in an aqueous tertiary amine oxide whereby the extruded fibers are led through a precipitating bath and cut and the cut fibers are passed through a series of water baths in the form of a fleece and then dried, whereby the wash baths are connected to each other and fresh washing liquor is applied to the last wash bath and led in countercurrent with the transportation direction of the fibre fleece to the first wash bath. The process in accordance with the invention is characterised in that the pH value of each of these wash baths is maintained higher than 8.5.

Process for the production of cellulosic fibres

The invention relates to a method of producing lyocell-type cellulose fibers by processing a spinnable solution of cellulose in an aqueous tertiary amine oxide according to the dry/wet-spinning process, which method is characterized in that a solution having a content of between 0.05% and 0.70% by mass, based on the mass of the solution, of cellulose with a molecular weight of at least 5&times;10,is used for spinning. The method of the invention allows the use of a spinnerette having more than 10,000 spinning holes for the spinning operation, which holes are arranged in such a manner that neighboring spinning holes are spaced maximally 3 mm apart and that the linear density of the spinning holes it at least 20.

Method of producing cellulose fibers

A device is disclosed to draw off or store viscous mass which is discharged from a process for example as a result of exothermal events. The device contains at least one unit which has one inlet for the viscous mass and one outlet and is at least partly filled with a non combustible liquid inert to the viscous mass. The unit can be in the form of a pipe or a receptacle. Preferably several units in the form of a pipe can be connected one with the other respectively with a unit in the form of a receptacle. The solution discharged can then be transported via the pipes to the receptacle.

Device for draining or storing viscous materials

Spinning apparatus for carrying out a dry/wet-spinning process includes a spinneret for extruding filaments, a blowing device whereby the extruded filaments may be cooled immediately after being delivered from the spinning holes, a container containing spinning bath liquid, and means for bundling the extruded filaments provided in the spinning bath liquid. Preferably, the same means serves both for bundling and diverting the extruded filaments and is non-rotatable.
