Input stacks of value documents are inserted in an input pocket of the value document processing apparatus, transported through the apparatus, checked and sorted into different deposit pockets of the value document processing apparatus, wherein reject value documents are deposited separately from the valid value documents. The reject value documents are automatically transported back to the input pocket with the aid of a reject transport device, to check the reject value documents again with the same value document processing apparatus (rerun). The reject transport device has several reject transport units, in which the reject value documents from the different input stacks are deposited separately from each other, and a reader for reading in the machine-readable identifier of the respective reject transport unit used for assigning the reject value documents of the respective reject transport unit to the input stack to which these reject value documents belong.

Method and apparatus for handling value documents

A bank note processing apparatus processes bank notes by first singling the bank notes, then transporting the singled bank notes through a sensor device and on to several output units. Before delivering the bank notes to the output units, the bank notes are checked by evaluating data as well as determining and storing serial numbers of the bank notes, wherein the bank notes are delivered to the output units depending on the result of the checking. Further, in determining the serial numbers of the bank notes, a unique serial number is established for each bank note.

Method and device for processing banknotes

A system and method for monitoring bank notes for the presence of counterfeit bank notes provides for the detection of such data of each bank note to be monitored that permit a judgement to be made on the authenticity of the bank note. By way of the data detected, the authenticity of each bank note is judged, and in the event that the judgement of the authenticity of the respective bank note leads to the conclusion that a counterfeit and/or counterfeit suspect bank note is present, the data of the respective bank note are transferred to a data bank.
