A harvesting apparatus for harvesting corn or other such stalked vegetation includes at least one circulating endless conveyor for gathered plants, which forms an area at an end thereof for delivery of the plants to an inlet opening of a further processing apparatus. The endless conveyor includes conveyor links articulated to one another and at least one cutting plane comprising outwardly pointing cutters and having above it at least one holding plane for holding the cut stalks and including lower, outwardly-pointing holders. The endless conveyor is constructed such that a front side thereof, facing the cutters and holders, is of a substantially closed configuration.

The invention relates to a machine which is pulled or attached to a three-point attachment on a tractor and used for the harvesting of corn or similar stalk-like crops. The machine has a cutting device and a chopping blower arranged subsequent thereto with slide-in rollers to which the crop is supplied by a cross-conveyor running transversely to the direction of travel of the tractor. An attachable apparatus for covering round bales of agricultural harvested goods with a section of a covering inside a molding chamber of a baling press includes a supply roll freely rotatable about a tranversal axis and having an adjustable braking force. The supply roll extends across the width of a housing parallel to the center axis of the press chamber. A pull-off device which initiates the starting phase of the covering process is located adjacent the opening where the goods to be harvested enter or a comparable slit is located in the housing of the press chamber. During the starting phase, the braking effect of the supply roll is considerably reduced or suspended.

Wrapping apparatus for use with a baling machine of the type having a forming chamber in which a round bale is formed and into which a wrapping material is fed to wrap the bale, includes a housing, a feeding device mounted on the housing for feeding a wrapping material from a source of wrapping material to the forming chamber, and a drive on the housing having a drive position for driving the feeding device, the drive being biased into a non-drive position so that the drive is disengaged from driving the feeding device. A cutter is provided for cutting the wrapping material after the wrapping material exits the feeding device, the cutter being movable between a first and a second position. A pivotal lever is operable between an initial position and a first operable position, the pivotal lever being movable from the initial position to the first operable position to actuate the drive from its non-drive to its drive position to thereby drive the feeding device to feed the wrapping material. The cutter is movable from the first position to the second position as the pivotal lever is moved from its initial position to the second operable position, and a cutter release is operable to release the cutter from the second position so that the cutter moves to the first position and in so moving cuts the wrapping material, the cutter release being adjustable to release the cutter after a pre-set number of revolutions of the round bale.

Wrapping apparatus for round bales in baling presses

A crop baling machine of the kind for producing wound bales has a hollow cylindrical winding compartment having a bottom gap in the compartment cylindrical wall through which the crop is fed by a pick-up device. Conveying rollers then convey the crop to an endless slat conveyor a radially inner run of which is guided at its side edges to sweep round the inner, part cylindrical wall of the compartment. The outer run of the conveyor is guided round the outside of this wall. A rear compartment portion is hinged to open upwardly to release the bale. The construction is relatively simple and robust and requires less power than conventional machines because uniform radial compression of the bale is achieved. Also, dust and particles of crop cannot easily escape from the baling compartment.

A machine for cutting and harvesting of crops having stalks which is pulled by a tractor in a direction of travel. The machine includes a guide casing which has vertical cylindrical wall means. A vertical drum with gripper teeth is rotatably mounted on the guide casing and pulls the stalks of the crops into a pulling passage defined by the cylindrical surface of the drum and the vertical cylindrical wall means. A feed trough merges with the vertical wall means which extend from a 3-o'clock to an 8-o'clock position of the drum. A chaff blower having a pair of feed rollers is mounted at the outlet of the feed trough. The stalks of the crop are seized by the gripper teeth of the drum and transported through the pulling in passage where they are cut by cutting means and then are transported to the feed trough while assuming an increasingly rearwardly inclined position with respect to the direction of travel.
