A measuring instrument for thermogravimetrically determining the moisture content of a material, which includes a base (), configured as a balance, with a base surface (), and a hood () pivotably connected to the base. The hood has a weighing chamber lid (), weighing chamber walls (-) and a heating element (). The hood consists of an electronics module () that includes the heating element and an electronic power unit, and of a mechanical module () that includes the weighing chamber lid and all of the weighing chamber walls. The mechanical module () is rigidly and reversibly coupled to the electronics module so that the heating element, protrudes from a main body () of the electronics module and rises through a corresponding opening () in the rearward weighing chamber wall (), with the main body being pivotably connected to the base and surrounding the electronic power unit.

A pan lifting device configured to grip a pan of a balance with a positive fit has a pincer-shaped end () and a handle (). A blade-shaped supporting projection () of the pan lifting device is configured to accommodate the bottom () of the pan and a bent-over beak () of the pan lifting device is configured to clamp the rim () of the pan.

A device and a method for determining material moisture by thermogravimetry. Included in the device are: a test chamber () delimited by a chamber cover (); a microwave field that can be generated by a magnetron () and supplied to the test chamber by a waveguide (); a tuning rod () arranged in the test chamber; a sample carrier () which is operatively connected to a weighing module () mounted upstream of the test chamber; and at least one sensor () arranged in the test chamber. The tuning rod is arranged centrally on the chamber cover, above the sample carrier, and the at least one sensor is arranged on the free end of the tuning rod, opposing the chamber cover.

Device and method for determining material moisture by thermogravimetry

A drying balance () including a pan () that rests on a weighing system () as well as a heat source () for heating and drying a sample () on the pan. A sensor () measures the absorption coefficient, transmission coefficient, or reflection coefficient of the sample () in at least one predefined spectral range, or measures the moisture dependent dielectric constant of the sample while the weighing system () measures the moisture dependent weight of the sample (). The drying balance allows the entire calibration curve of the sensor () to be determined in a single drying process.

In a drying balance with a balance pan (,) which rests removably on the load receiver (,) of a weighing system, a radiation source (,) for warming and drying a substance on the balance pan (,), and a temperature calibrating disk (,) with at least one built-in temperature sensor (,), the load receiver (,) has a vertical hole (,) into which a pin (,) on the underside of the balance pan (,) protrudes. The housing (,) of the balance has an opening (,) around the hole (,) in the load receiver (,) which is significantly larger than the diameter of the pin (,). The temperature calibrating disk (,) has a plug (,) on its underside with several contacts (,) on the outer edge, which protrudes into the opening (,) without contacting the load receiver (,). The plug (,) establishes an electrical connection with the corresponding mating contacts (,) at the opening (,). The plug (,) has three contacts (,) which are held in a synthetic material part. Thus, the temperature calibrating disk (,) is electrically and mechanically easily connectable with the housing (,) such that it does not contact the load receiver (,).

A drying scale is provided that contains a housing, a weighing system, a scale pan, a carriage, and a radiating source. The weighing system is disposed within the housing for weighing a sample, and a scale pan is operably supported by the weighing system and contains the sample to be weighed. The carriage moves between a loading position, and a radiating source is disposed within said carriage. The carriage exposes the scale pan when said carriage is in the loading position and moves the radiating source over at least part of the scale pan such that the radiates heat and dries the sample when the carriage is in the drying position. Also, the weighing system and the scale pan are fixedly disposed with respect to the housing, and the carriage and the radiating source move relative to the housing between the loading position and the drying position. In addition, a method performed by the drying scale is also provided.

A device for the determination of dry substance of specimens consists of a microwave heater (10) and of a balance (5) whose balance scale (4) is located within the microwave heating area (7). This device includes a rotary disk (1) located within the microwave heating area (7) which disk can receive several specimen containers (2) and by elevating means which can raise and lower one of the specimen containers (2) from the rotary disk (1) and place it on the balance scale (4). The elevating means consists e.g. of a lifting device (11) for the rotary disk (1).
