The present invention relates to a method of cleaning pretreatment of ferrous components that have been joined by welding, in which residues from the welding operation are removed from the surface of the component and, in this way, subsequent wet-chemical conversion treatments are enabled so as to produce defect-free coatings. For cleaning pretreatment, the component is contacted with an aqueous sulfuric acid etchant which comprises amino alcohols, ethoxylates and/or propoxylates of fatty alcohols having 6 to 12 carbon atoms in the alcohol and iron ions, and is effective without the presence of fluorides. In a further aspect, the present invention encompasses an aqueous acidic etchant for cleaning pretreatment of ferrous components that have been joined by welding.

The invention relates to the use of a surface-active agent and to the use of cleaning agents obtained by dilution of said surface-active agent for removing silicone-containing deposits from surfaces.

A stabilized liquid enzyme preparation containing a cleaning-active enzyme, a solvent selected from the group consisting of ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerol, and mixtures thereof, and a stabilizer comprising a basic nitrogen compound selected from the group consisting of N,N-bis-(3-aminopropyl)-dodecyl amine, a salt of N,N-bis-(3-aminopropyl)-dodecyl amine, and mixtures thereof. Also, a method of cleaning an article by diluting the stabilized liquid enzyme preparation with water in a weight ratio of enzyme preparation to water of 1:500 to 1:5000 to form a cleaning solution, adding to the cleaning solution 0.01% to 0.2% by weight, based on the weight of cleaning solution, of a buffer concentrate to adjust the pH of the cleaning solution to 7 to 10; and contacting the article with a portion of the cleaning solution to effect cleaning thereof.
