A hair-shaping appliance includes a hand-held portion, a hair-shaping element extending from the hand-held portion, an evaporator mounted within the shaping element, a tank mounted within the hair-shaping element in a moveable manner, a dosing device connected to the tank, and an actuating button connected to the tank. The actuating button and tank are connected such that movement of the actuating button displaces the tank along a longitudinal direction of the appliance (e.g., towards and away from the evaporator). In addition, the actuating button is positioned on the hand-held portion of the appliance and is positioned to allow single-handed operation.

Hair-shaping appliance

The invention is directed to an electrically powered appliance for the treatment of hair, in particular a hair dryer, having a fan motor for generating a current of air and a heater unit for heating the air current, and a housing with an air inlet port and an air outlet port as well as a connector element, for connecting the hair dryer to an implement for hair treatment. This implement is equipped, particularly for the styling and/or drying of hair, with an electrical load, for example, an electric motor, and is attachable to the air outlet port of the hair dryer. The connector element includes at least one terminal device for electrical connection to a voltage-carrying component in the hair dryer. The terminal device electrically at selected locations is connected with the heater unit and is disposed essentially outside the heater unit.

An electrical heating unit, particularly for a hair drier, comprises a first wire heating element, in particular a spiral coil wire heating element (2) having a heat conductor support comprising at least one support plate (4, 5, 6), and a heat conductor winding (7) arranged thereon. This spiral coil wire heating element serves to heat the stream of air flowing through the hair drier. At least one second wire heating element is provided, serving the function of adapting the electrical voltage for a further electrical load, particularly as a series resistor, for a direct-current motor fitted with an impeller to produce the stream of air. The second wire heating element (3) comprises a frame-type heat conductor support (8) and a heat conductor winding (9) arranged thereon which fills the free area of cross section of the heat conductor support (8). Further, the second heating element (3) is secured to the first heating element (2).

The invention is directed to a filter device (10) and to a method of cleaning such a filter device for an electrically powered air-moving hair-care appliance, in particular for a hair dryer, a hot-air curling brush or the like, with a filter element (12) having an inner and an outer side (25, 26), in which the inner side (25) of the filter element (12) is arranged in the area of an air entrance opening of the appliance. The filter element (12) is configured as a type of fabric, perforated foil or the like of small thickness, comprising in particular a screening fabric made of a plastic material. Further, the filter device (10) is configured in such manner that contaminants such as hair, fluff, dust or the like which are retained by the filter element (12) are substantially deposited on the outside of the filter element, and that the outside of the filter element is positioned on the hair-care appliance in a manner providing substantially free access to the user, and that contaminants are removed by the user simply wiping over the outer side (26) of the filter element (12).

The invention is directed to a hair styling implement adapted to be attached to an air outlet opening of a hair dryer and equipped with a housing and a plurality of hair pickup elements and an adjusting element that is movable relative to the housing. In this arrangement, at least one locking member is provided which is adapted to be located in at least two positions; in a first position, the adjusting member is lockable with the housing, and in a second position in which the hair styling implement is attached to the dryer, the housing is lockable with the hair dryer.

A hair dryer has a housing including an air inlet opening and an air exit opening for passage of an air stream. The housing accommodates a blower structure and a heater, and the air inlet opening has associated to it a filter element. Provided in the housing are a detector producing an output signal in dependence upon at least one temperature prevailing in the housing and having associated thereto a signaling device which is actuatable on attainment of a predeterminable threshold value of the output signal. The signaling device indicates to the user of the hair dryer that the filter element requires cleaning or replacement.

The invention is directed to an electric switch having a shaft (33) with a switching coulisse (36) comprising two circular segments, with control cams (60, 64) being disposed on the one circular segment and ratchet elements (66) being disposed on the other circular segment, which cooperate with a detent spring (75) and a contact spring (70). Because the circular segments are arranged i1 a common plane, a highly compact switch is obtained.
