Invention relates also to a catalyst in solid form comprising (i) a complex of formula (I) and (ii) a cocatalyst of an aluminium compound and (iii) a cocatalyst of a boron compound. 

Catalysts

A propylene copolymer composition comprising A) a propylene butylene copolymer which is&#x2014;free of phthalicacid esters as well as decomposition products thereof; &#x2014;obtained by a Ziegler-Natta catalyst and B) at least one &#x3b1;-nucleating agent, the propylene copolymer composition having&#x2014;a MFR (2.16 kg/210&#xb0; C.) in the range of 2 to 100 g/10 min&#x2014;a melting point Tm(1) of less than 140&#xb0; C.&#x2014;a melting point Tm(2) of at least 150&#xb0; C., said Tm(2) being associated with more than 75% of the total melting enthalpy and whereby the propylene copolymer&#x2014;has monomer units derived from a) propylene in an amount of 90.0-98.0 mol.-% b) butylene in an amount of 2.0-10.0 mol.-% with respect to the total weight of the propylene butylene copolymer&#x2014;an isotacticity mm % as determined byC NMR spectroscopy of below 99.0%; and&#x2014;a Koenig-B parameter with respect to butylene as determined byC NMR spectroscopy of more than 0.98.

Nucleated C3C4 copolymers

A process for the preparation of a heterophasic copolymer of propylene and ethylene comprising polymerizing propylene and ethylene in the gas phase in the presence of a solid particulate catalyst free from an external carrier comprising: (i) a symmetrical complex of formula (I), wherein M is zirconium or hafnium; each X is a sigma ligand; L is a divalent bridge selected from &#x2014;R'C&#x2014;, &#x2014;R&#x2032;C&#x2014;CR&#x2032;2-, &#x2014;R&#x2032;Si&#x2014;, &#x2014;R&#x2032;Si&#x2014;SiR&#x2032;&#x2014;, &#x2014;R&#x2032;Ge&#x2014;, wherein each R&#x2032; is independently a hydrogen atom, C1-C20-alkyl, tri(C1-C20-alkyl)silyl, C6-C20-aryl, C7-C20-arylalkyl or C7-C20-alkylaryl; Ris a C1-C20 hydrocarbyl radical; Ris a C1-C20 hydrocarbyl radical; Ris a tertiary C4-C20 hydrocarbyl radical; Ris a hydrogen atom or a C-hydrocarbyl radical; n is 0 to 3; Ris a C1-C20 hydrocarbyl radical and optionally two adjacent Rgroups taken together can form a further mono or multicyclic ring condensed to Ph ring optionally substituted by one or two groups R; and Ris a C1-C10 alkyl radical and (ii) a cocatalyst, preferably comprising an organometallic compound of a Group 13 metal; wherein the xylene soluble fraction (XS) of the heterophasic copolymer of propylene and ethylene has an intrinsic viscosity of at least 1.5 dl/g and an ethylene content of 10 to 70 wt %. 

Process for producing propylene copolymers in gas phase

A process for the preparation of a propylene polymer in a multistage polymerisation process in the presence of a single site catalyst, said process comprising: (I) in a prepolymerisation step prepolymerising a single site catalyst in the presence of propylene and optionally at least one C2-10 alpha olefin comonomer and in the presence of hydrogen or in the absence of hydrogen; (II) in a slurry polymerisation step, polymerising propylene and optionally at least one C2-10 alpha olefin comonomer, with the pre-polymerised catalyst of step (I) in the presence of hydrogen; and subsequently (III) in a gas polymerisation step polymerising propylene and optionally at least one C2-10 alpha olefin comonomer, in the presence of catalyst and polymer from step (II) and optionally in the presence of hydrogen so as to form a propylene homopolymer or copolymer; wherein the amount of hydrogen fed to the pre-polymerisation step (I) is at most 15% of the total amount of hydrogen fed to steps (I) and (II) of the polymerisation process.

Process for the preparation of a propylene polymer

The present invention relates to an olefin polymerization process, wherein propylene and 1-butene and optionally ethylene are reacted in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system so as to obtain a polypropylene, wherein the polypropylene comprises 1-butene-derived comonomer units in an amount of from 5 to 20 wt % and optionally ethylene-derived comonomer units in an amount of up to 3 wt %, and the Ziegler-Natta catalyst system comprises an external donor of the following formula (I): (R)(RO)Si(R).

A process for the preparation of a copolymer of propylene and ethylene comprising polymerizing propylene and ethylene in the gas phase in the presence of a solid particulate catalyst free from an external carrier comprising: (i) a symmetrical complex of formula (I), wherein M is zirconium or hafnium; each X is a sigma ligand; L is a divalent bridge selected from &#x2014;R'C&#x2014;, &#x2014;R&#x2032;C&#x2014;CR&#x2032;&#x2014;, &#x2014;R&#x2032;Si&#x2014;, &#x2014;R&#x2032;Si&#x2014;SiR&#x2032;&#x2014;, &#x2014;R&#x2032;Ge&#x2014;, wherein each R&#x2032; is independently a hydrogen atom, C-C-alkyl, tri(C-C-alkyl)silyl, C-C-aryl, C-C-arylalkyl or C-C-alkylaryl; Ris a C-Chydrocarbyl radical; m is 2 to 5; Ris a H or C-Chydrocarbyl radical; Ris a hydrogen atom or a Chydrocarbyl radical; n is 0 to 3; Ris a C-Chydrocarbyl radical and optionally two adjacent Rgroups taken together can form a further mono or multicyclic ring condensed to Ph ring optionally substituted by one or two groups R; and Ris a C-Calkyl radical; and (ii) a cocatalyst, preferably comprising an organometallic compound of a Group 13 metal; wherein the xylene soluble fraction of the propylene ethylene copolymer has an ethylene content of at least 10 wt % and an intrinsic viscosity of at least 1.2 dl/g. 

Process for the preparation of copolymers of propylene

A process for the preparation of a propylene copolymer, preferably a heterophasic propylene copolymer, in a multistage polymerisation process in the presence of a single site catalyst, said process comprising: (I) in a slurry polymerisation step, polymerising propylene and optionally at least one C2-10 alpha olefin comonomer; and subsequently (II) in a gas polymerisation step polymerising propylene and optionally at least one C2-10 alpha olefin comonomer, in the presence of catalyst and polymer from step (I); (III) in a second gas polymerisation step, polymerising propylene and at least one C2-10 alpha olefin comonomer in the presence of the catalyst and polymer from step (II); wherein said catalyst comprises (i) a metallocene complex of a group (IV) metal, said metallocene comprising at least two cyclopentadienyl type ligands; (ii) a boron based cocatalyst; and (iii) an aluminoxane cocatalyst; said catalyst being in solid form, preferably in solid particulate form, and being free from an external carrier.

The present invention relates to a process for preparing a propylene random copolymer comprising polymerisation of propylene with a comonomer, said comonomer being ethylene or an &#x3b1;-olefin comprising at least four carbon atoms, in the presence of a catalyst in a muiltistage process comprising polymerisation of propylene with a comonomer in a first reaction zone including at least one slurry reactor to give a first polymerisation product, transferring said first product to a second reaction zone including at least one gas phase reactor and polymerisations of propylene with a comonomer in said gas phase reactor in the presence of said first polymerisation product, wherein the temperature in the gas phase reactor is at least 10&#xb0; C. higher than in the slurry reactor and to a polymer obtainable by this process. Furthermore, the invention relates to a propylene random copolymer prepared by copolymerisation of propylene with a comonomer wherein the distribution of the comonomer determined according to the TREF method is multimodal, preferably bimodal, a peopylene radom copolymer prepared by copolymerisation of propylene with a comonomer wherein the copolymer is having an elution interval determined according to the TREF method of 50&#xb0; C. or more, a propylene random copolymer prepared by copolymerisation of propylene with a comonomer, wherein the random copolymer is a unimodal polymer and the elution interval determined by the TREF method is given by the equation Y&#x2266;4.5.m+16 wherein Y is the elution interval in &#xb0; C. and m is the percentage of ethylene in the copolymer in wt. %, and to the use of such a copolymers for the production of a film, of an article by blow moulding or injection moulding, of a fibre or of a pipe.
