A microfilm pickup camera comprises a device for continually horizontally transporting originals to be projected in the camera through the camera, and an ink printing head for marking originals before they enter an exposure station provided in the camera. The ink printing head is provided with a drive which pivots, rotates and displaces the ink printing head between a use position, a cleaning position and a non-operative position. The printing head is EDV-controlled.

A cover for nozzles of vacuum ink printing head has a circumferential sealing element arranged to abut against an end side of a printing head, and a diaphragm arranged so that the sealing element and the diaphragm together form a pressure chamber.

An apparatus for viewing microfiches held in a cassette has a housing defining a rear seat for the cassette holding the microfiches and having a front viewing area, an optical system on the housing for viewing a microfiche in the area, a holder constructed to carry one of the microfiches displaceable on the housing in the area with respect to the optical system for presenting selected portions of a microfiche carried by the holder to the optical system, and a selector in the housing for separating a selected microfiche in the cassette from the other microfiches in the cassette. A drive support is rotatable about and displaceable along an upright axis between the viewing area and the cassette-holding seat and has a pair of generally diametrally opposite arms having outer ends provided with respective drive rollers. The support is rotatable about its axis between a transport position with one roller engaged in the area and the other roller in the cassette in the seat and with the arms extending in a transport direction between the area and seat, and an out-of-service position extending transverse to the direction with neither roller in the area or in the seat. A motor rotates the rollers when the support is in the transport position in one rotational sense to displace a microfiche in the transport direction from the cassette in the seat to the holder in the area and in the opposite rotational sense to displace a microfiche from the holder in the area to the cassette in the seat.

Autoloading microfiche reader

An apparatus for sensing microfilms is provided in addition to visible light with a projection lamp for radiating infrared rays which pass through a cold-light mirror to a platform on which a microfilm is disposed. The apparatus is further provided with a projection lens positioned above the microfilm platform. The path of rays is directed from the microfilm platform through the projection lens and then is projected onto an image screen or other sensing surface, for example CCD-device. For adjusting the apparatus for various light spectrum combinations the apparatus is provided with at least one infrared component-reflecting mirror which is displaceable or pivotable to and from the path of illumination rays radiated from the projection lamp.

A microfilm reader for enlarged projections of any desired micropicture among a number of such pictures on a microfilm. The microfilm is interleaved between two movable plates. A slidable support for the image forming objective is pressed with a tensioned spring against the upper plate. The slidable support can be connected to a slide lever for effecting its placement in proper position. Two arms of a spring can be employed for mounting the slidable support and for tilting it around an axis essentially parallel to the cover plate.

Microfilm reader

A microfilm reader is provided which comprises two casings. The first casing comprises selection means for selecting a micropicture as well as means providing a projection beam for imaging the positioned micropicture through at least one selected orifice in the first casing. The second casing comprises at least one orifice for receiving the projection beam carrying the micropicture information and projection means for displaying the received micropicture information. The two casings can be attached in dual position and by proper positioning of mirrors the projection beam passes through matched orifices of the two casings. The remaining orifices are covered with covers.

A film screen is perpendicularly slidably mounted on a first guide rail in a microfiche reader. This first guide rail is detachably mounted on a frame which in turn is slidably mounted on a second guide rail perpendicularly with respect to said first guide rail so that the two guide rails form a coordinate support arrangement for selectively displacing the film screen in two mutually perpendicular directions. The second guide rail is mounted on the base of the microfiche reader. The film screen and first guide rail can be easily detached from the frame and replaced by a film screen and first guide rail of different size which is then attached to the frame.

Microfiche reader

A collapsible microfilm reader having a lower body part with a micro-fiche projector and a cover hinged thereto and having a rectangular projection surface or screen on its inner surface which is operatively positioned when the cover is in its open position. The hinge or hinges which connect the body and cover are readily disconnectable and connectable so that the cover can selectively be mounted on the body with the long or short axis of the screen aligned with the central axis of the projector thereby permitting the optimum projection of micro-fiches of different formats by changing when necessary the orientation of the positioning of the cover on the body rather than requiring different positioning of micro-fiches of different formats with respect to the projector.

Collapsible microfilm reader

Portable microfilm reader having a body with a microfilm holder, a projection lamp, a foldable reflecting mirror, a hinged cover, and a projection surface or screen on the inside of the cover. The invention provides means for automatically erecting the mirror when the cover is opened, and automatically folding the mirror when the cover is closed. Means is also provided for automatically turning the projection lamp off when the cover is closed.

Portable microfilm reader

A holding frame holds a microfiche. Guide rails mount the holding frame on the microfilm reader housing for movement along two perpendicular coordinate axes for moving selected portions of the microfiche held by the frame into position to be projected. An arresting device arrests the frame in selected positions and includes a stationary clamped structure on the housing and a cooperating releasable clamping structure on the frame. The clamping structure when not released clamps the clamped structure and thereby arrests the frame relative to the housing.

The rear-projection viewing screen receives light incident upon its back side from the objective of a rear-projection projector and forms a corresponding image visible to a human eye viewing the front side of the viewing screen. The viewing screen is comprised of a lens-aperture matrix and an optical system cooperating with the lens-aperture matrix. The optical system serves the function of a lens matrix comprised of lens-matrix elements which focus the light from the objective of the rear-projection projector through the apertures of the lens-aperture matrix. The optical system furthermore serves the function of a field lens operative for gathering the light emanating from the objective of the projector and deflecting such light in direction toward the optical axis of the objective so as to increase the amount of light from the marginal portions of the viewing screen reaching a viewer's eye located on such optical axis.

Rear-projection viewing screen

Optical scanning apparatus for microfilms or test films has a first carriage which is movable along the X-axis of a coordinate system, a second carriage which is mounted on the first carriage and is movable along the Y-axis of the coordinate system, a magnetic coupling device which connects a portion of the margin of a film to the second carriage so that each and every bit of information on the film can be moved into register with a reference point at the upper side of a horizontal base plate, and an optical scanning system having a light source below the base plate, an annular insert mounted in the base plate and serving to transmit light upwardly through the film at the reference point of the upper side of the base plate, and a magnifying lens system or a photoelectric cell above the film in register with the insert. A fan can direct a stream of air upwardly toward and through the insert to cool the light source and to impinge against the underside of the film so as to remove dust and reduce friction between the insert and the film.

Apparatus for optical scanning of microfilms or the like

A cartridge is disclosed in which a hub is rotatable in a housing and has its periphery partly embraced by an endless band that is mounted for travel in the housing. The band is trained about a plurality of guide rollers at least one of which is located outwardly adjacent the hub and is mounted so that it can move towards and away from the hub. Movement away from the hub is opposed by a permanently acting biasing force.

Cartridge for strip-shaped record carriers

Light is projected as a beam from a fixed laser source onto a helical reflecting surface continuously rotating about its central axis. The beam impinges the reflecting surface in an incident direction substantially parallel to the rotation axis and is reflected from the surface in a direction skew to this axis. A reflector extending the full axial length of the reflecting surface then reflects the beam back onto the reflecting surface in a direction so oriented that the reflecting surface reflects the beam a second time, but now in a direction generally perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The reflecting surface and the reflector are both concave so as to condense the beam.

Irradiating system for line-by-line copier

A continuous microfilming camera wherein the film is trained over a large driven roller so that its emulsion-coated side faces a lens which is installed in a tubular mount. The roller is rotatable about a fixed axis and the mount is reciprocable in the housing of the camera substantially radially of the roller. Two positioning rolls at the front end of the mount contact the emulsion-coated side of that portion of the film which is trained around the roller and are biased against the emulsion-coated side by springs which react against the housing and bear against the mount. The rolls are disposed at the opposite sides of the optical axis of the lens, and the driven roller cooperates with two guide rollers which insure that the film is trained over the major part of the peripheral surface of the driven roller.
