A novel cycloolefin copolymer that can be employed in the production of molding with fewer defects, for example, fewer gel particles (fish eyes). There is provided a cycloolefin copolymer comprising 80 to 20 mol % of repeating units derived from an &#x3b1;-olefin monomer and 20 to 80 mol % of repeating units derived from at least one cycloolefin monomer selected from the group consisting of monomer of the general formula (I), monomer of the general formula (II), monomer of the general formula (III), monomer of the general formula (IV) and monomer of the general formula (V), wherein with respect to the repeating units derived from cycloolefin monomer, the proportion thereof being present in the form of dimer (Rd) is 50 mol % or below and the proportion thereof being present in the form of trimer (Rt) 5 mol % or above.

Electrets can be produced from cycloolefin copolymers (COCs), and charges applied thereto are stable for long periods, even at high temperatures and high relative humidities. The reduction here in a positive charge applied to the COCs is smaller than that of negative charges applied to the COCs. The stability over time of the charges applied is impaired by adding polar additives, such as inorganic silicon compounds. Films, fibers or nonwovens produced from electrets can be processed to give filters.

The present invention relates to a thermoformable composite film comprising at least one film which comprises cycloolefin copolymer and comprising, laminated to at least one side of this film, a thermoplastic film. The thermoformable film is obtainable by using a solvent-free single-component adhesive to apply the thermoplastic film laminated to the film which comprises cycloolefin copolymer. The film which is laminated is a PVDC-containing thermoplastic film. The thickness of the entire film is from 100 to 500 &mgr;m, the thickness of PVDC film is from 5 to 150 &mgr;m and the thickness of the COC film is from 50 to 400 &mgr;m. The thermoformable composite film is used to produce blister packs.
