A flexible laminate is disclosed which includes a flexible support as a first layer and glass having a thickness in the range from 10 &#x3bc;m to 500 &#x3bc;m as a second layer and wherein the first or the second layer is a non-continuous, segmented layer. In the embodiment of the figure, a plastic foilis provided with a plurality of thin adjacent glass segments, which are separated by a space. The laminate can be provided with functional layers, e.g. using a web coating or printing process, and can then be cut easily in the space between the segments so as to obtain a plurality of glass laminates.

A dental film packet, comprises a film pack in a sealed envelope for intra-oral use for dental X-ray purposes. The envelope consists of a pair of thin pockets 21 and 22 of injection moulded plastics material, mating by means of tongues and cut-outs which may be held together and sealed by a band of adhesive tape. The envelope 20 has edges 29, 30 and corners 31 which are smoothly rounded so that the envelope 20 is devoid of any sharp edges. It will therefore generally cause the patient considerably less discomfort than the conventional form of packet. (FIG. 2)

Dental film packet

A daylight loading film sheet package has a stack of film sheets enclosed within a wrapper having front and rear panels covering the front and rear faces of the film stack and projecting side extensions on at least three sides of the panels which are folded into contacting relation and adhered together in close proximity to the corresponding sides of the stack to cover such stack sides. One of the wrapper panels has a sheet-dispensing opening therein with one edge adjacent one stack side which is generally coextensive in length with that stack side, such opening extending from the edge into the panel to permit an outermost film sheet to be accessed and withdrawn from the stack therethrough. The dispensing opening is light-tightly covered by a flexible sheet closure attached at one end to the other wrapper panel adjacent the one stack side and overlying the opening with its side margins adhered to the folded side extensions of the panel containing the opening, the sheet closure being adhered to the panel beyond the opening and terminating in a free end to facilitate its stripping removal from the opening.

A cylindrical core 1 for receiving windings of a photographic film web comprises a hub 3 having an axial re-entrant channel and an insert 4 fitting into and engaging shoulders 13, 16 of that channel to define with the channel a slot 26 for receiving an end of a film web 2. Cooperating detent elements 19, 25 are provided for resisting relative axial movement between the hub 3 and the insert 4 when the latter is inserted into the channel 11, and the insert 4 incorporates teeth 24 for engaging at least one marginal perforation of a film web to prevent circumferential slippage of the film web. The slot 26 is inclined obliquely from a radial direction, and the teeth 24 are located on the inner or lower wall thereof so that the film perforations are released from the teeth when the film end is tensioned at the end of unwinding.

A light-tight cassette for a roll of light-sensitive photographic material, comprising a shell (11) of generally rectilinear sectional profile with a light-tight dispensing slot (15) defined between two lips, has a stiffening member (33) inserted between at least one lip (21) of the dispensing slot and the adjacent shell wall (19), for increasing the bending resistance of said lip and minimizing accidental light leakage through the slot.

A radiographic film package for non-destructive testing, comprising a radiographic film sheet, an intensifying screen with a layer of lead bonded to a paper foil, and a vacuum heat-sealed wrapper with a layer of aluminium and a heat-sealable easy-peelable thermoplastic layer.

A spreading conveyor comprising an endless air-permeable laterally stretchable spreading band, endless air-permeable supporting band means within the path of the spreading band, and a suction box within the loop of the suction band and having a perforated wall in contact with the inner side of the supporting band means along a portion of its path. This arrangement allows a reduction in the wear and deformation of the spreading band, and can operate at higher speeds than common spreading bands that operate without suction means.

Method and apparatus for conveying and spreading material

A cassette for holding and rotatably dispensing a roll of web material carried on a rotatable roll is provided with a locking member connecting between the rotatable roll and the cassette body and having a cross-sectionally reduced zone that may be ruptured by rotation of the roll incidental to the initial withdrawal of the web material from the cassette, the reduced zone having at least one inner sub-zone of lesser rupture resistance than the outer sub-zones on each side thereof, e.g., an aperture whereby the reduced zone ruptures upon rotation of the roll through a lesser angle than in the absence of the sub-zone.

A cutting apparatus with two cooperating rotatable cutting knives is driven by a driving shaft rotating at a constant speed and includes a speed controller in the form of an interlocking rotatable pin and slot drive connection, the input and output shafts of that connection offset from each other, and acceleration and deceleration compensating means including a compensating flywheel and an interlocking rotatable pin and slot drive connection having the input and output shafts offset from each other, the input shafts of both slot drive connections being coupled to the driving shaft, the output shafts of both of the connections being held against bodily movement while the input shafts are mounted for parallel bodily displacement, and means for adjusting the position of the input shafts of the slot drives. Preferably, the input shafts have a common axis of rotation.

Rotary cross-cutting apparatus for cutting continuously moving webs

A rotary perforating apparatus for forming the guide perforations in photographic film, wherein the mechanism which controls the movements of the punch carrier arms comprises a control disc which rotates eccentrically with respect to a film-supporting wheel, and wherein the punch carrier arms are connected to said control disc through control arms which may perform a spacial swinging movement, thereby to provide a mechanism which is little subject to wear, and wherein standard ball bearings and ball joints may be used.
