A drive arrangement for an ink ribbon cassette or the like having a transport roll arranged inside of the cassette permits the cassette to be inserted and ejected in a direction perpendicular to the transport roll axis relative to the receiving compartment of a ribbon device and also provides an automatic coupling between the transport roll and a drive shaft forming part of the device. The drive shaft is shiftable between a coupling position and a decoupling position set back from the coupling position against the force of spring means. On the forward end of the cassette as it is inserted perpendicular to the transport roll axis is a ramp which during the inserting movement of the cassette runs against the drive shaft and pushes it to its decoupled position. When the cassette reaches its fully inserted position the drive shaft automatically catches into the transport roll. Special actuating means are provided for decoupling the drive shaft from the transport roll. The drive arrangement is especially useful for the ink ribbon cassettes of printers.

The invention relates to a device for selectively notching or severing a paper strip (18), e.g. a cashier's bill, in a printer. The cutter (2) is pushed to and fro by means of a sliding block (38) arranged on it by way of a pivot, which block engages in a slide track (28). The sliding block (38) can assume two different angular positions in the slide track (28), in which the pivot (36) connecting the slide block (38) with the cutter (2) is located either radially inside or outside of the center line of the slide track (28), so that the cutter (2) reaches different end positions, in one of which the paper strip (18) is notched and in the other of which it is severed. The setting of the different angular positions of the sliding block (38) takes placed automatically through a choice of the rotation direction of the crank disk (26) showing the slide track (28). The cutter (2) shows a cutting edge ( 6) with two cutting edge segments (8,10) running forward and outward from the center of the cutting edge in the cutting direction (12).

The invention relates to a cashbox for a cash register, with a money drawer mounted in a cash case so as to be slidable in a moving-in and a moving-out direction, a sliding drive for the money drawer with spring means which act on the money drawer, are stressed when the latter moves in, and supply the force for moving the money drawer when it has moved in and also a lid operationally connected with the money drawer which lid swings open when the latter is moved out and swings shut when it moves in.

An insert for a money drawer for receiving coins, currency, bills and the like including a relatively large area lower tray defining a plurality of relatively long and relatively deep compartments running from front to rear of the lower tray and sized to accommodate paper currency, a relatively small area upper tray defining a plurality of relatively short and relatively shallow compartments running from front to rear of the upper tray and sized to receive metal currency, and coacting means on the lower tray and on the upper tray for removably mounting the upper tray in the upper rear region of the lower tray so that the upper tray overlies the rear portions of the relatively long currency compartments defined by the lower tray. The walls defining the compartments in the lower tray are removably positioned in the lower tray and are shaped to conform to the outline of the lower side of the upper tray, and a guide rail is provided on the front edge of the upper tray for slidably supporting one or more holddown devices which extend into the front region of the lower tray to engage the currency in the lower tray. An auxiliary region of the lower tray, laterally outside of the region of the upper tray, has a reduced depth and is provided with a plurality of pivotally mounted transverse walls to define a plurality of laterally extending compartments.

Insert for a money drawer

A money box arrangement particularly for use in the cashier's stations of department stores, on bank counters or the like is proposed. This money box arrangement in particular will make possible a simple and secure carrying of the money between the cashier's station and a central cash office. It comprises a cash insert (10) which can be taken out of the cashbox (4) of a cash register (2), a portable strongbox (12) for receiving the cash insert (10) as well as other reserve money not located in this place, and moreover comprises a cover (14) which can serve for closing off the cash insert (10) and for closing off the portable strongbox (12). This arrangement makes it possible for the change in the cash insert (10) and the reserve money to be carried securely between the cashier's station and the central cash office. Since the reserve money is generally accounted for every night but the change can be stored without accounting for the next day, the further capability exists of closing off the cash insert (10) containing the change with the lid (10) and storing this unit, which is substantially smaller than the portable strongbox (12), in the night safe.
