In a method for preparing an ester from an hydroxybenzoic acid and a fatty alcohol for use in a binder system for powder injection molding, transesterification of an ester of the hydroxybenzoic acid and a low alcohol using the fatty alcohol is carried out, the fatty alcohol and the ester of the hydroxybenzoic acid and the low alcohol forming a reaction mixture and being used in an essentially equimolar ratio. The transesterification is carried out at a temperature at which the ester of the hydroxybenzoic acid and the low alcohol and the fatty alcohol are present as a homogeneous melt. The binder system for a powder injection molding contains 80 to 98 wt. % of a metal powder and/or a ceramic powder and 1 to 19 wt. % of a polymeric binder component, and 1 to 19 wt. % of at least one ester prepared by the transesterification.

Method for preparing an ester and binder system

A ceramic composite material, for example, a ceramic molded body or a layer obtained by pyrolysis of a starting mixture, containing at least one polymer precursor material and at least one filler, which has an average particle size of less than 200 nm. Such a composite material may be used, for example, for producing fibers, filters, catalyst support materials, ceramic sheathed-element glow plugs, metal-containing reactive composite materials, porous protective shells for sensors, ceramic or partially ceramic coatings or microstructured ceramic components.

Ceramic composite

In order to state a powdered metal composite material having a high specific electrical resistance and having good mechanical strength, very good resistance to temperature and to fuel, and a starting material and a method for the economical production of such a composite material, a powdered metal composite material having a high specific electrical resistance, which contains at least two oxides encapsulating the powdered metal particles, the oxides forming at least one common phase, and a starting material containing a powdered metal, which contains at least two antitack agents having oxidic pyrolysis residue and oxidic fine powder, and a method for producing such a composite material are made available, which relate to a starting material of the kind named, in which the starting material is pressed to form molded articles, in which the antitack agents are pyrolyzed in a nonreducing atmosphere to form oxides, and the oxides then present are made to react with one another to form at least one common phase.

Powdered metal composite material and starting material and method for producing such a composite material

A sheath heater in a sheathed-type glow plug for diesel engines is described, having at least one generally internal insulation layer and at least one generally external conductive layer, both layers making up a ceramic composite structure. The sheath heater has a generally uniform overall cross-section, generally over its entire length, and, in the area of a tip of the sheath heater, the proportion of the insulation layer in the overall cross-section increases, whereas the proportion of the conductive layer in the overall cross-section decreases.

Sheath heater

A compression-molding material, in particular for producing a magnetically soft composite, including a raw powder exhibiting magnetically soft properties, a thermoplastic compound, and a lubricant. The lubricant is especially stearic acid. The compression-molding material is used to produce a magnetically soft composite, whose manufacture includes the method steps of preparation of the compression-molding material, molding of the compression-molding material at a temperature below the melting point of the thermoplastic compound, first thermal treatment of the molded compression-molding material at a temperature below the melting point of the thermoplastic compound, and second thermal treatment of the molded compression-molding material at a temperature above the melting point of the thermoplastic compound. The magnetically soft composite is suitable for manufacturing heat-deformation-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and fuel-resistant, magnetically soft components for high-speed controllers and actuators.

Mouldable material and method for producing a weakly magnetic composite material therewith

A ceramic pin heating element having exterior heating conductors and integrated electrical connection surfaces, and method for making same. A first body is injection molded from a first injection-moldable ceramic composite compound having a first electrical resistance, and a second body is injection-molded from a second injection-moldable ceramic composite compound having a second electrical resistance about the first body so as to form a compound body. The compound body is then sintered. The resulting ceramic pin heating element is directly formed without additional steps for protecting (insulating) the element so as to prevent the exterior, complementary heating conductors from contacting the housing and/or terminal bolts. The danger of breakage of the pins at the mounting location and/or at the seal seat through variations in the thickness of contact and/or insulation coatings is minimized.

A magnetically soft, moldable composite material include powder grains coated with nonmagnetic thermoplastic compounds or with molecular precursors for ceramics or with intermetallic compounds, the magnetic properties of the magnetically soft composite material being adjustable in that fashion. Also described is a method for manufacturing a magnetically soft, shapable composite material coated in that fashion, which can subsequently be processed into shaped parts.

Soft magnetic, deformable composite material and process for producing the same

A method for producing ceramic composite bodies, in particular, cylindrical ceramic bodies for sheathed-element glow plugs, in which a plurality of shaping sleeves, which accommodate piece parts premolded by cold pressing, are inserted into corresponding bore holes of a vertically standing supporting plate that is heated via additional bore holes with the aid of cartridge heaters or a heat transfer liquid. The vertically standing supporting plate with the shaping sleeves is then clamped between two press plates of a press, and the piece parts located inside are subsequently pressed by press pins which, on both sides, pass through the press plates and into the shaping sleeves. Upon completion of the necessary pressure keeping period, the pressed compound, after retraction of the press pins and opening the press, can be hardened in a non-pressurized manner in the shaping sleeves located in the withdrawn supporting plate that is subjected to further heating. Finally, the pressed material can be removed from the shaping sleeves after the same have been cooled by air, and can be ground into the final shape using a grinding machine.

Method for pressing cylindrical composite bodies

A method is proposed for manufacturing a pin heater that has a substantially internal insulating layer and an external conductive layer, the two layers composed of a ceramic composite structure, wherein before the pin heater is sintered, its shaping is accomplished by way of the ceramic injection molding technique or by cold combined axial/isostatic pressing.

Method for manufacturing shaped bodies from hard ferrites

In a method for manufacturing a nozzle plate, two parts of the nozzle plate are fabricated separately from one another. The fabrication of the two parts is carried out by microstructuring/lithography, electroforming and plastic molding. Advantageously, a filter structure is provided in the first part. The two parts are joined together by means of laser welding, diffusion soldering or a chemical joining process. The nozzle plate is particularly well suited for injection valves, atomization nozzles, paint spray nozzles or other spraying systems.
