An oil kit and method eliminate glue build-up on slitting blades of a slitting device. The oil kit includes a bracket assembly that is readily attachable an existing slitting device in the vicinity of the slitting blades. The bracket assembly supports a plurality of pad units each supporting a felt pad soaked in oil. The pad units are adjustable such that the oil kit can be customized for any slitting device slitting blade configuration. The felt pads are secured by friction and can be readily removed and resecured in various configurations before requiring re-soaking of the pads.

Business forms are stacked using a cart having first and second portions pivotally movable with respect to each other from a substantially L-shaped configuration to a substantially in-line configuration with each portion having a conveyor associated with it, and a docking station. The cart with the first and second portions in the substantially L-shaped configuration is moved into operative association with the docking station. The cart is lifted and rotated in the docking station so that the second portion is substantially horizontal, and the first portion of the cart is pivoted with respect to the second portion so that the first portion is in the substantially in-line configuration with respect to the second portion. The conveyors are operated so that business forms are moved onto the first portion, and then onto the second portion, with the second conveyor operating at a speed of at least fifty percent greater than the first conveyor (e. g. about ten times as fast). An indicator automatically indicates when the frame is substantially full of forms and then the forms are moved off the first portion and operation of the conveyors stopped, and then the first portion is pivoted back to the substantially L-shaped configuration, the cart is lowered and rotated so that the second portion is substantially vertical, and the cart is manually rolled out of contact with the docking station.

Forms transfer system and method

A powered loop stand includes a frame having a base, first and second substantially parallel substantially vertical columns attached at their bottoms to the base, and at least one across support between the columns. A driven roller is supported for rotation about a substantially horizontal axis by the columns adjacent the top of each, typically between about four and five feet from the base. A number (e.g. three) of vertically spaced loop sensors are mounted by the frame between the columns so that their positions with respect to the driven roller are adjustable, e.g. mounted by vertical support with a bracket or collar frictionally engaging the support. A variable speed electric motor having an output shaft with a drive pulley is mounted within the column and a drive belt directly engages a peripheral surface of the roller and the pulley to drive the roller. The sensors are operatively connected to the motor for controlling its speed of operation. An adjustable outfeed roller may be mounted to the columns below the driven roller.

The cart includes a cart body tiltable relative to a base mounted on casters. A locking device for maintaining the cart body in selected tilted position relative to the base includes an actuator having a cam surface and a pin biased into a locking position by a spring having a cam follower surface. By displacing the actuator, the cam displaces the pin from an opening in a locking plate carried by the cart body to enable tilting movement of the cart body relative to the base. By displacing the actuator in the opposite direction, the bias of the spring moves the pin into an opening in the locking plate, locking the cart body in a selected angular position relative to the base.

The combined dolly and ramp assembly includes a ramp having a pair of laterally spaced arms and an inclined ramp surface interconnecting the arms adjacent one end and at an elevation for receiving a roll of web material from a pallet. The dolly includes a frame mounted on casters and which has a pair of inclined surfaces meeting at an apex centrally of the dolly. The dolly is movable into an opening between the arms 16 of the ramp to align the inclined ramp with one of the inclined surfaces of the dolly. A foot-actuated latch automatically and releasably locks the dolly and ramp to one another. The roll of web material is rolled down the ramp onto the dolly and secured by a strap to anchor points on the dolly. By releasing the latch, the dolly with the roll may be displaced to another station.

A specially constructed pallet jack is used for transporting a heavy roll of paper having a central hollow core. The pallet jack includes a frame with elongated arms having first and second ends, with a first set of wheels mounted at the second end of the arms, and a second set of wheels mounted near the first end of the arms. A jack is provided for jacking up the first ends of the arms so that they are spaced from the wheels. Between the arms is a cradle having first and second ends with three obtuse angle-connected planar surfaces extending between the first and second ends. The first end of the cradle is pivotally mounted to the first ends of the arms, and the cradle is biased to a roll-receiving position by a gas spring. When a roll is rolled into the cradle, it pivots, dampened by shock absorbers to a roll-capture position in which the roll cannot spontaneously roll out of the cradle. A strap passes from the cradle through the core of the roll to positively hold it in place.
