An air oil separator includes a removable and replaceable filter element. The filter element can include a flange-receiving recess in a first end cap construction. Alternatively, the first end cap construction can include alternating radially protruding projections and radially inward recesses. Alternatively, the end cap construction can include a first section contained within a plane and a second section sloping from the first section.

Air oil separator

The current technology relates to filter media configurations where the filter media has a surface with a treatment that increases the roll off angle of the surface for a 50 μL water droplet when the surface is immersed in toluene. Some example filter media have a fluted configuration, and some example filter media have multiple layers. Filter media having multiple layers can be single facer media, for example, where one layer is planar and another layer is fluted.

Filter media configurations

A scavenge tube is slidably attached to either a filter head housing or a liquid return port in a wall of a vessel. The scavenge tube can be slidably positioned to ensure that the tube is oriented within the area where the collected liquid will pool. In one example, the scavenge tube is slidably attached to the housing by way of being spring-biased. A slidable grounding tube is attached to an electrically grounded filter head housing and projects into a liquid collection region of a filter member and is in touching engagement with a metal portion of the filter member to ground the filter member to the filter head. In one example, the slidable grounding tube is spring-biased.

Scavenge tube arrangement; gas liquid separator filter assembly; and methods

A liquid reservoir tank assembly includes a gas-liquid separator, such as an air-oil separator. A tank body has an open end, a portion of the tank body forming a liquid separation chamber, another portion of the tank body forming a liquid reservoir. A tank cover covers the open end of the tank body, the tank body and the tank cover providing a gas inlet and a gas outlet with a gas flow through the separation chamber from the gas inlet to the gas outlet. The gas-liquid separator is mounted in the separation chamber in the gas flow between the gas inlet and the gas outlet. The separator has a coalescing stage layer and a drain stage layer arranged radially symmetrically about an axis extending through the interior of the separator, the coalescing stage layer being upstream of the drain stage layer. Each of the layers is generally frustoconical in shape.
