Approaches and related devices monitor the condition of a battery via voltage measurement during routine recharging instances. An approach includes supplying a charging current to the battery during each of a plurality of routine charging instances. The charging current is increased by a measured or predetermined amount during a current pulse portion of each of the routine charging instances. A resulting change in a battery voltage of the battery during the current pulse portion of each of the routine charging instances is measured. An impedance-indicative value of the battery is determined for each of the routine charging instances based on the change in the battery voltage during the current pulse portion. The impedance-indicative value is stored in a memory device for each of the routine charging instances. A condition of the battery is estimated based on one or more changes in the impedance-indicative values.

An apparatus and method for the protection of an electronic circuit against anomalies in a supplied power voltage where the apparatus includes: a reserve power source connected to the supplied power voltage for providing voltage to the electronic circuit for a predetermined amount of time after an anomaly has occurred in the supplied power voltage, a module control for maintaining selected data and control signals transmitted to the electronic circuit during occurrence of the anomaly, and a differential comparator connected to the supplied power voltage and to the reserve power source to produces a comparator control signal upon occurrence of the anomaly, the differential comparator providing the comparator control signal to the module control.

Apparatus and method for protection of an electronic circuit

A PCMCIA memory module or card is provided, which module includes volatile SRAM memory, non-volatile FLASH memory, a rechargeable backup battery circuit for providing power to SRAM memory in the event of the absence of primary power, and a user selectable memory paging mode which allows a user to select between multiple addressing schemes.
