The invention relates to a device for the movable connection of pipe ends, particularly of motor vehicle exhaust systems, with a flexible pipe element, such as a metal bellows, hose or the like, and with damped, spring elastic elements acting between the connection ends of the flexible pipe element. Such a device must have a simple construction, but must on the one hand compensate the relative movements acting between said connection ends and on the other ensure the necessary restoring forces for restoring the pipe element to its central position. In such a device, the invention provides for the elements to be held in expanding fastenings of supports parts, so that the linear spring characteristic of the elements is progressively modified by the expanding fastenings.

Device for the movable connection of pipe ends

An apparatus for an elastic connection of pipe, particularly in exhaust lines of motor vehicles. A first pipe end and a second pipe end are connected by a flexible line elements such as a metal bellows. A casing accommodates at least one damping cushion and first and second abutment are respectively connected with the first and second pipe ends. The casing includes circumferentially juxtaposed wall portions forming the first and second abutment with the wall portions being movable relative to one another so as to be brought into abutment with the at least one damping cushion.

Apparatus for the flexible connection of pipes in exhaust lines of motor

A hinged joint for pipes having a sealing element such as, for example, a pipe with corrugated walls and reinforcing flanges at each end. At a certain distance from its end, each pipe carries a flange, which has two diametrically arranged, outwardly directed fastening attachments, each serving to be directly or indirectly connected to the corresponding attachment of the other flange, so as to permit a rotary movement about an axis orthogonal to the axis of the pipes thereby resulting in a hinged joint, which is particularly suitable for joining motor vehicle exhaust pipes.

For the vibration-based decoupling of two pipe parts, such as the exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine and the exhaust system, at least two compressed absorber cushions of braided, knitted, tangled or similar wire are arranged so as to absorb or damp movements of substantially the same order of magnitude in all degrees of freedom, that is, with respect to all possible movements. For this purpose, the at least two absorber cushions each have a polygonal configuration.

Apparatus for the decoupling of two pipe parts with wire mesh cushions

For decoupling an exhaust system while suppressing or damping motion and cutting down noise as far as possible, a flexible joint or articulation for the exhaust system of a motor vehicle has a flexible duct part with support parts joined with its ends for outer damping members. The flexible duct part is so designed that the support parts are overlapped on the outer side of the duct part forming pockets acting as housings for compacts of compressed metal wire for damping motion of the support parts in relation to each other.
