A color television receiver includes a comb filter responsive to detected video signals for providing a wideband combed chrominance signal, which is coupled to chrominance processing circuits via a composite filter including plural mutually interactive resonant sections. An input resonant section of the filter serves to remove very high frequency interference signals including comb filter switching components from the chrominance signal path, and also coacts with the other filter sections to provide an amplitude characteristic having a sense to compensate for an oppositely directed amplitude characteristic associated with the detected video signals, over the passband of the wideband chrominance signals.

Wideband chrominance signal filter

A filter network suitable for processing a signal such as the demodulated 'I' chrominance component of a composite color television signal is disclosed. The filter network comprises plural cascaded mutually interactive resonant LC sections for providing wideband filtering, amplitude peaking over a prescribed range of signal frequencies, and signal delay. Mismatched resistors terminate the filter network and constitute the primary DC impedance of the filter network, and the LC sections exhibit selected impedances at frequencies within the peaking frequency range.

Demodulated chrominance signal filter with peaked response

A dynamic noise filter especially adapted for use in audio reproduction systems within a television display device is provided to eliminate perceived noise. An audio signal having a relatively wide frequency range is passed through a variable bandwidth lowpass filter, the upper frequency cutoff point being variable in response to a control signal. A control path includes a filter and detector circuit for generating the control signal in response to the amplitude of the audio signal within an upper frequency portion of the audio signal frequency range. The control signal controls the bandwidth of the lowpass filter inversely with respect to the level of the audio signal within the upper frequency portion of the frequency range. A further filter is included in the control path for providing substantial attenuation at the fundamental frequency and lower order harmonic frequencies of the television horizontal line scanning signal in order to prevent the control path from erroneously responding to this signal.
