A blower assembly includes a fan including a front plate that defines a fan inlet. The blower assembly also includes an inlet plate positioned adjacent the fan such that the inlet plate and the front plate define a cavity therebetween that extends circumferentially about the fan inlet. A motor is coupled to the fan and to the inlet plate and configured to rotate about the rotational axis. The motor is positioned within the cavity.

Blower assembly and methods of assembling the same

A motor has an axis of rotation and includes a housing, a first shaft coupled to the housing, and a second shaft coupled to the first shaft. The motor further includes a stator, a rotor coupled to the first shaft, a gearbox, and a bearing assembly coupled to the rotor. The stator includes an outer circumferential surface and an inner circumferential surface. The inner circumferential surface defines a stator bore around the axis of rotation. The rotor includes a first arm and a second arm. The first arm is configured to extend axially along the axis of rotation and within the stator bore, and the second arm is configured to extend radially from the axis of rotation. The first arm and the bearing assembly are positioned within the stator bore, and the second arm is positioned entirely outside of the stator bore.

Electrical machines and methods of assembling the same

A method for making a component for use in an electric machine is provided. The method includes applying first and second portions of a first material to a first surface, applying a second material to the first portion of first material; bonding the second material to the first portion of the first material, removing the second portion of the first material to form a void defined by the first portion of the first material, applying a conductive material in the void, and applying an insulating layer to the second material, wherein the process for preparing the component further comprising the steps of: applying first and second portions of a third material to the insulating layer; applying a fourth material to the first portion of third material, and bonding the fourth material to the first portion of the third material.

Method for making a component for use in an electric machine

An end cap for use with a stator assembly is provided. The end cap includes a tooth portion, a yoke portion, and a lip. The tooth portion includes a first end and an opposite second end and the yoke portion is formed at the first end of the tooth portion. The yoke portion includes at least one arm that extends from the tooth portion. The lip is defined along at least one of the tooth portion and the at least one arm portion.

Tool and method for use in assembling a stator assembly of an electric machine

A motor having an axis of rotation is provided. The motor includes a housing, a first shaft coupled to the housing and a second shaft coupled to the first shaft. The motor further includes a stator coupled to the housing and comprising an outer circumferential surface and an inner circumferential surface, wherein the inner circumferential surface defines a stator bore around the axis of rotation. A gearbox is coupled to the first shaft and to the second shaft and positioned within the stator bore. The motor includes a rotor coupled to the first shaft and adjacent the stator.

An axial flux electric machine has a rotatable shaft, a fixed stator core comprising a ferromagnetic material and defining an axis of rotation, and a rotor assembly comprising a plurality of permanent magnets. The rotor assembly is rotatable about the axis of rotation. An axial air gap is defined between the stator core and the rotor assembly. The rotor assembly is axially displaceable towards and away from the stator core. The rotor assembly has a first position wherein the axial gap is a predetermined width greater than zero, and a second position wherein the axial gap is zero, such that the rotor assembly and the stator core contact each other.

An electric machine includes a housing, a bearing and a securing device. The housing defines a bearing seat and a support surface. The bearing cooperates with the bearing seat and defines a bearing clamping surface. The securing device is connected to the housing and includes a fastener and a member defining a member clamping surface. The member and the fastener secure the bearing to the housing. The securing device has a first position for assembly of the bearing into the bearing seat and a second position for constraining the bearing in the housing. The member clamping surface overlies the bearing clamping surface when the member is in the second position. The member provides continuous movement from the first position to the second position. The support surface engages the member when the member is in the second position.

Securing device for use in an electric machine

An explosion proof motor including a stationary assembly and a rotatable assembly is described. The stationary assembly includes a stator that defines a stator bore. The rotatable assembly includes a rotor and a rotor shaft extending substantially axially through the stator bore. The explosion proof motor includes a frame configured to at least partially surround the stator. The frame defines an interior and an exterior of the motor. The explosion proof motor also includes at least one end shield positioned at an end of the frame and a bearing cap positioned proximate to the interior side of the end shield. The explosion proof motor also includes a flame path gap defined between the end shield and the bearing cap. The flame path gap includes at least one section that extends substantially parallel to the rotor shaft.

End shield and inner bearing cap assembly

A motor that includes a motor frame, an end-bell assembly, a stator assembly, and filling material is described. The stator assembly is placed within the frame such that at least one open area is defined between an inner diameter of the stator assembly and an inner diameter of the motor frame. The at least one end-bell assembly is attached to the motor frame, forming an inside area adjacent the motor frame and the stator assembly. The motor also includes a material configured to fill the at least one open area and the inside area of the at least one end-bell assembly for the purpose of sealing the stator assembly and the inside area associated with the at least one end-bell assembly. The material assists in a bonding and attachment between any two or more of the stator assembly, the motor frame, and the at least one end-bell assembly.
