A toilet tissue product which having a cellulosic ply having at least one layer incorporating a repellant agent and a debonder which are each substantially dispersed throughout the layer. The layer is configured to provide a substantially homogeneous structure having increased absorbency rate and a reduced dry tensile strength. Method of making a high utility tissue

The present invention may provide a towel desirably including first and second layers having cellulosic fibers and a repellant agent. The first and second layers may substantially sandwich a third layer having cellulosic fibers with higher absorbency than the first and second layers. All three layers may form a single ply.

High utility towel

The present invention provides compressed paper webs that maintain a substantial amount of their absorptive capacity and wet strength when compressed. The compressed webs bounce back to a portion of their uncompressed state when wetted. The present compressed webs allow more towels to be added to a dispenser without substantially sacrificing the absorbent capacity or the strength of the towels.

Compressed absorbent fibrous structures

A system and method for collecting data on usage of towels or other folded web products. The system includes one or more product dispensers having a respective sensor arrangement associated therewith for determining product usage. For example, a plurality of piezoelectric transducers may be situated about the throat of a product dispenser to generate a detection signal as sheets are withdrawn by a user. Detection signals produced by the transducers are fed to signal condition circuitry, the output of which is fed to a local processor. Selected benchmark information is derived by the local processor, and is transmitted, such as by wireless techniques, to a central data collection unit. The central data collection unit includes a processor which compares the benchmark information against predetermined data to produce the desired usage information.

System and method for collecting data on product consumption

A system and method for collecting data on individual and aggregate use of various washroom products. The system includes one or more product dispensers having a sensor associated therewith for determining product usage. The sensor communicates usage information to local transmitter which responsively generates a data signal. The data signal is transmitted, such as by wireless techniques, to a central data collection unit. The central data collection unit receives and stores the data signal for later analysis. In exemplary embodiments, usage from a plurality of dispensers can be monitored by a single data collection unit.

A toilet tissue product may include a first cellulosic ply and a second cellulosic ply. Desirably, the first cellulosic ply further includes a single layer and the second cellulosic ply further includes a single layer. At least one ply may have a region that prevents fluid from striking through the tissue product.

An absorbent folded hand towel having improved effectiveness at hand drying based on the weight of the towel. The towel is composed of an absorbent fibrous cellulosic web having in combination: 1) a total area of less than about 500 cm.sup.2 ; 2) a basis weight of greater than about 45 gsm; 3) a TWA of greater than about 3 g/g; and 4) a unit tensile strength of less than about 1300 meters, so that the hand towel provides a hand towel utility of less than about 5 grams per hand dry event.

A system and method for collecting data on individual and aggregate use of toilet tissue or other types of rolled absorbent paper in a public washroom includes a sensing system for sensing one or more characteristics of paper use at a particular dispensing location, and a recording system for receiving and recording data from said sensing system, whereby paper use at the dispensing location can be monitored and studied. The system further analyzes the data to determine such things as the total amount of paper used, the duration of time over which paper is used, the number of discrete pulls on the paper taken by a user and the amount of paper taken by a user per discrete pull.

System and method for collecting data on tissue consumption

An improved folded absorbent paper product includes first, central panel; a second panel, unitary with the first panel and folded over a first side of said first panel; a third panel, unitary with the first panel, and folded over a second side of the first panel; a fourth panel, unitary with the second panel, and folded so as to be positioned between the first and second panels; and a fifth panel that is unitary with the third panel and folded so as to be positioned between said first and third panels. Advantages of the improved product include an optimization of weight to space considerations, the fact that exposed edges are kept out of view, an ability to work in a gravity feed dispenser in any of four possible orientations, and an assurance of double ply strength at intended gripping locations. A method of dispensing and of use is also disclosed.
