Systems and methods are provided for capturing images of animals for the purpose of identifying the animal. A camera can be positioned to capture images of an animal at a feeding station. A member can be positioned on the opposite side of the feeding station from the camera to provide a common background for the images captured by the camera. When an image is captured by the camera, a determination is made as to whether an animal is present in the image. If an animal is determined to be present in the image, a segmentation algorithm can be used to remove (or make black) the background pixels from the image leaving only the pixels associated with the animal. The image with only the animal pixels can be provided to animal recognition software for identification of the animal. In some embodiments captured images can be used to create synthetic images for training without requiring segmentation for the identification process.

Systems and methods for capturing and processing images of animals for species identification

Systems and methods using drawings as security information are disclosed. According to an aspect, a computing device may include a touchscreen display configured to receive information for drawing a security picture. Further, the computing device may include a security manager configured to determine one or more characteristics associated with input of the gesture information. The security manager may also be configured to authenticate a user based on the drawn security picture and the one or more characteristics associated with input of the gesture information.

Systems and methods using drawings which incorporate biometric data as security information

A system, method, and computer program product for computer analysis of lesions in digitized film-based and/or digital mammograms is described, wherein diagnostic information is combined from two different 2-D mammographic views with the information obtained from one view (or field of view) or mammographic position is processed with information obtained from a second (or a plurality of) related mammographic views to reduce false-positive findings (increase specificity) while preserving or improving diagnostic sensitivity. The digital mammograms or digitized film-based mammograms used, are those that are in current use, and those that conform to the requirements of the American College of Radiology and the Mammography Quality Standards Acts. In a preferred embodiment, a line constructed at the location of the chest wall (or parallel to the chest wall), the location of the nipple, and a line constructed perpendicular to the chest wall datum line and passing through the location of the nipple serve as reference datum across mammogram views. An algorithm locates suspicious lesions in each mammography view and evaluates the concordance of the 3-D spatial locations to rule out physically impossible false-positive findings, based on calculations of spatial relationships. Concordant findings are detected using anatomic landmarks and such findings are reported using terms that are currently in use by physicians and other health care providers in the field of mammography.

Methods and apparatus for computer automated diagnosis of mammogram images

An array of optical fiber bundles includes one or more diffractive elements positioned above gaps between adjacent bundles. Incident radiation produces mathematically determinative diffraction patterns on the respective input faces of the adjacent bundles. Radiation intensity values for areas between and along the abutting edges of adjacent optical fiber bundles can be determined using the diffraction patterns. These intensity values can be assigned to other pixels so that precise, seamless images can be reconstructed.

An array of tapered optical fiber bundles having input faces for receiving incident radiation thereon are staggered with respect to one another such that an input face edge portion of a tapered optical fiber bundle overlies a portion of an input face of an adjacent optical fiber bundle so as to occlude the overlaid portion from incident radiation. Optical fiber bundles may be staggered in various configurations, including repeating patterns.
