For printing to a recording medium in the form of a web that is moved in a horizontal direction to the printing position by a web carriage. There, the recording medium is raised up to the print heads. To clean the print heads, a maintenance carriage is used that is moved horizontally into a maintenance position below the print bars. There, a cleaning unit with covering caps is then driven upward to the print heads in order to either place a covering cap onto the print heads or clean the print heads. The web carriage and the maintenance unit are moved only in a horizontal direction while the printing unit remains stationary.

Ink printer and method for printing to a recording medium in the form of a web

A device for generating an output signal, formed as a pulse sequence, with a sensor and a controller. The sensor generates a sensor signal based on a measurand determined by the sensor. The controller determines a number of pulses of a timing signal that are generated chronologically between two pulse edges of the sensor signal, the timing signal being generated by a timing signal generator. The controller also generates an intermediate timing signal formed as a pulse sequence, where the period duration of the intermediate timing signal is equal to the period duration of the timing signal multiplied with a factor that is equal to the determined number of pulses of the timing signal, divided by a predetermined divisor. The controller generates the output signal based on the intermediate timing signal.

A method for stabilizing a print quality in an inkjet printing system is described. The inkjet printing system can include a nozzle arrangement that may be activated with a number of control signals that can be used to fire ink droplets with corresponding different droplet sizes onto a recording medium. The rastered image can be printable by the inkjet printing system using a subset of the different droplet sizes. In a method to determine concentration of toner particles in a carrier fluid in a liquid developer system for a printer or carrier, a suspension of the carrier fluid in the toner particles is charged with an ultrasonic wave. A propagation time of the ultrasonic wave in the suspension is determined. A concentration of the toner particles in the suspension is determined from the propagation time. A system is also provided employing the above steps.

In a method for control of an electrophotographic printer or copier, information that refer to a single sheet are determined from print data supplied to the printer or copier. Dependent on said information, a transport path of the single sheet through the printer or copier to generate at least one print image on at least one side of the sheet is determined. A system time of the printer or copier is provided that is the same for at least first and second control units of the printer or copier. At least one desired point in time at or until which at least one sensor signal is expected or at least one actuator is activated is established dependent on the transport path, the desired point in time referring to the system time of the printer or copier.
