A method for producing a receptacle which is closed by a sheet by transmission laser welding, and to an apparatus suitable to carry out same. The method and the apparatus are configured in such a way that a weld seam is formed between the wall structure of the receptacle and the sheet so as to be wider than the end faces of the wall structure.

An apparatus for connecting two workpiece parts to form a workpiece by through-transmission welding by means of weld seams running in a preselected weld seam pattern in regions of the workpiece parts having different characteristics is provided. The apparatus has a laser beam source with a plurality of individually controllable laser beam emitters of different power which are arranged adjacently in an X direction and a homogenizer arranged downstream. At least two reflection channels are provided in the homogenizer which run parallel to one another in a Y direction and completely penetrate the homogenizer in a Z direction by a channel depth.

A device for simultaneously processing a circumference of a workpiece includes a plurality of laser-lens modules and a waveguide. The modules each include a diode laser and a lens system and is configured to emit a laser beam radially in a shared radiation plane. The waveguide includes a lower part and an upper part that together form a cavity enclosing the radiation plane. The laser-lens modules are configured so that the laser is reflected repeatedly between a bottom surface and a cover surface and propagates in an unaffected manner within the radiation plane so as to form a beam spot that strikes the workpiece with a homogeneous energy distribution. The beam spot has a height based on a distance between the surfaces and a width based on a divergence angle in the radiation plane and a distance of the module from the workpiece surface.

Apparatus has a receptacle () for two workpiece parts () which extend two-dimensionally in X and Y directions and which are to be joined along a weld. The apparatus includes a laser beam source () comprising a plurality of individually controllable laser beam emitters () which collectively form a line array which is oriented in X direction, a transporting device () for transporting the laser beam source () relative to the receptacle () in Y direction, and a homogenizer () arranged downstream of the laser beam source () in the radiating direction. Apparatus for joining two workpiece parts along a weld by means of transmission welding

The present invention relates to a system for spot welding with a laser beam () in which the laser beam () passes through a tube () and impinges on the components () to be welded together. The cross section of the laser beam () is formed by reflections inside the tube, and the distribution of the radiation intensity is homogenized across the cross section of the beam. At the same time, the tube () exerts a contact force (F) on the components () that are to be welded together. Using a plurality of laser beams (), to each of which a tube () is dedicated downstream, it is possible to create a simple and robust, component-specific system by means of which several or all weld spots can be simultaneously produced so as to conjoin the two components ().
