An electrical switch, comprises, a casing of a nonconductive material, having first and second spaced apart upstanding supports, with a contact plate of an electrically conductive material having an intermediate spring portion, with an outwardly extending arcuate bulge portion intermediate its length and a bridging member on each side of the spring portion, and an end portion on each end interconnecting the spring portion with at least one end of each bridging member and supported on respective spaced apart supports. The intermediate spring portion is held in an outwardly biased position extending in the direction of the arcuate portion by the contact plate construction, and it bears against an actuating member which may move it in a direction opposite to the bias direction. Fixed contact means are mounted in the housing in alignment with the movable contact means which are associated with the bridging members, and the movable contacts move into engagement with the fixed contact when the actuator is moved to displace the spring against the biasing thereof.

Electrical switch construction

A switch construction comprises a housing which has a base wall and an upstanding side wall with first and second contact terminals arranged in spaced locations in the housing and with one of them bent over on its top so as to form a contact making portion. A spring member has an upper part with one end engaged in a V-shaped bearing on the one contact terminal and has a lower part with a contact arm which is engageable with the contact portion of the other terminal. The upper and lower parts of the spring member are interconnected by a curved bearing portion which is engaged and supported in the housing sidewall. In addition the spring member has an intermediate part of the upper portion which is substantially straight and which is engageable by an extension of an actuation member which is engaged on the housing and confined for movement upwardly and downwardly within predetermined limits. The spring member biases the actuating member to an uppermost end position and it is movable downwardly against the spring member to cause a pivotal motion of the spring member upper part about the bulging portion at one end of the intermediate part and a bulging portion at an opposite end of the intermediate part. The lower part of the spring which includes the contact member is first moved in an upward direction by the downward movement of the actuating member and is thereafter moved into engagement with the contact portion of the second contact terminal.

The switch is provided with a fixed contact and a movable contact attached to a contact arm which is held by means of a spring in at least one of the portions of said contact arm. The spring and the contact arm are made in one piece to form a bracket-shaped catch element which is pivotally mounted in a bearing in the housing. The spring is stressed at least in the dead center position thereof.

Switches

An electrical switch, comprises a housing having spaced apart side walls each with a bearing recess which is located above spaced apart fixed contacts. An actuator is guided in the housing between the side walls and moves toward the fixed contacts to move first leg portions of substantially U-shape contact springs to flex these leg portions and pivot intermediate web portions which are pivotal in the bearing recesses and, thereafter, snap second leg portions into engagement with the fixed contacts. The arrangement may include two sets of spaced apart contact members between which the second leg portions of the leaf springs are movable and the first leg portions are preferably pivotally connected between depending feet of the actuating member. The second leg portions include curved recesses located below the feet which are similarly curved so that the feet engage into the recesses and move these leg portions before the second leg portions are snapped into a contact engagement with one or the other of the fixed contact members.
